TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can apply for a 1-year extension of stay on your Type-O visa as long as you meet the requirements and submit your application before the visa amnesty period ends.

Just popped into Korat Immigration to get list of requirements for a Retirement extension. I can prove 12 months of 65k plus coming into Thailand, but because I am currently on a Marriage visa from Laos they are wanting to see the source of my income in my home country (England). They asked for the Embassy letter and took some convincing that the UK no longer did those. I am now trying to chase down my pension tax forms from the UK.

I have 12 months of 65+K going in and have ordered a Bank Statement to show it, but ....I was told that they will still want to see something from England.

Are your transfers direct into your Thai bank account? I was able to get a 1 year statement from Bangkok bank to do mine.
I'm using the 800K in the bank... I believe it should be the same for monthly 65K. Of course, every office has it's own way of doing things.

Their first suggestion was that, as I was on a marriage visa, I should go for a marriage extension which involves even more hoops. They then said that I could sign (?) to say I wanted to change to a retirement extension.
yep as long as you meet the requirements and do it BEFORE the amnesty runs out you can. So you need to get your ducks in a row and get to the immigration office and apply as you've got 29 days left right now on amnesty
