You shouldn't need to visit your embassy, that's only to get the affidavit to prove your 40k + a month income. And as far as I know the UK embassy does not issue these and they are quite hard to get so you just need some bank statements from the past two months and/or a letter from your bank for evidence for the 400k.

If you have had the 400k sitting in your account for two months your best bet is to get it extended at your local immigration office. As far as I know this is for having a Thai dependent (a kid) or a wife. You could also go to Savannahket and use this 400k to get a multiple entry spousal visa.

Most embassies don't provide affidavit services, I know the UK one doesn't, and I'm pretty sure the US one doesn't either. But don't quote me on that. It's why 90% go the 400k route.

If you are married to a Thai you can extend for 60 days at a local IO.

I was planning to go during the last week of January since that’s when my current extension will expire, requiring me to leave and get a new visa. Are you suggesting I should just go out, get an exemption stamp, and then convert it to a non-O at my local IO?

How about just a 90 day spousal visa? (which I plan to extend at my local IO) For me the MENO visa was just a bonus option, I didn't realise that now only Savannahket offer it.

Don't try and turn it. I never said it's offensive, don't make me out to be some sort of snowflake. I said it's distressing, which has a completely different meaning. If you had kids the same age who had died, you'd understand - how would you feel if it a kid you knew well or was close to on that bus and these images kept on getting reposted? Would you want images of that bus burning being shown all over the internet? I am sure I am not the only one with this opinion. I'm going to hide this post now and not comment any further and try and get the images of the burning bus off the "recent media" section out of respect for the dead. I hope in the future you show a little more consideration before posting such images.
