If my visa in my passport says "valid until 28 Aug 2024" does that mean I can leave Thailand on Aug 28 then come back a few hours later on Aug 28 and get given 90 plus days on arrival? (it's multiple entry). Or is that taking the piss in the eyes of immigration?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring if they can leave Thailand on the date their visa states it is valid until (August 28, 2024) and return later that same day to receive an additional 90 days on arrival with their multi-entry visa. Comments suggest that while it is theoretically possible to do this, it is generally safer to leave a few days earlier to avoid any complications at immigration, as some travelers have faced issues when crossing borders.

What visa have you got?

spousal

If it is a multi entry tourist visa, you get 60 days upon entry, not 90. You have to go to an immigration office after entry to extend to get the extra 30 days.

Just leave and re-enter a couple of days earlier. You've got a valid multi-entry visa.

In theory, yes. But I personally would not risk that. I would go a few days early - just in case. In most cases it works fine - but at some (land) borders cases were reported where they made people stay a night.

land border crossings agencies are upping their prices to ridiculous rates. So I've decided to go by air to Malaysia which is actually a lot cheaper. But obvs i have to add the expense of a hotel if I stay a night. So a lot to consider.
