I'm going on a visa run to Ho Chi Minh, I have a marriage certificate, daughter's birth certificate, wife's tambien baan, her ID card, herself (in person) my passport. I'd ideally like a non-o year lomg marriage visa. Is tbis possible with the docs that I have ? Or do I need more?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether they can obtain a one-year multiple-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai citizen while visiting the Thai Consulate in Ho Chi Minh. They have provided a list of documents including their marriage certificate, daughter’s birth certificate, wife’s household registration (tambien baan), ID card, and their passport. Responses from other community members suggest that while it is typically possible to secure this visa with the right documents, there may be recent policy changes affecting the issuance of the one-year visa, as one user reported being given a single-entry visa instead. It is recommended to have signed copies of the documents and possibly to try consulates in neighboring countries, such as Savannakhet, Laos, where others have successfully obtained similar visas.

, given the number of people who use the thai consulate in Savannakhet to get those year-long, multi-entry Non-O's based on marriage IF this was a policy change it'd have hit the inter-web forums and f/b pages by now.

I googled around and couldn't find a single post about them changing their policy on those visas.

Sorry that happened to your husband :/

Do they still give out 1 year multiple entry non-o for marriage ? My husband just came back from Savannakhet lastnight and only got single entry for 3 months. He asked them about it but they said, they no longer provide 1 year multiple entry non-o anymore. Any ideas?

Was in Savan last week, no problem getting a Multi Non O.

@Jor***
, If you're talking about getting a Non-O based on being over 50 (retirement), both Savannakhet and Vientiane will only issue 90 day single entry Non-O's.

If you're talkin about getting one based on marriage to a thai, ONLY Savannakhet will issue year-long, multi-entry Non-O's, the consulate in Vientiane will only give 90 day single entry ones.

@Jordan *******
wrong. For marriage it is THB400k for extension. for retirement it is THB 800k.

Tod I heard the same they only give 3 months at sav then you have to extend for a year showing proof of 800,000B

Yeah, we aren't sure what happened there but we will need to stick with presenting the funds now. Thanks Tod for the discussion! certainly wasn't expecting a single entry for only three months...

Something came off the rails. because he's the first person out of hundreds and hundreds that go to Savannakhet to say they only issued 90 day Non-O's based on marriage to a thai. :(

If he came in on a 90 day Non-O then he can apply for a yearly extension of stay based on marriage when he has 45 days or less left on the stamp he entered on and by meeting the financial criteria of either banking 400K baht in a thai bank account in his name only for 2 months before the application OR showing a notarized statement from his consulate stating he receives 40K baht a month income.
Aimy *****
No, his visa says Non-O. He did applied for non-o based on marriage with me.
Aimy *****
We asked our agent and now apparently our option is to wait 45 days then to apply a marriage visa showing 400k funds in the bank...

@Aimy ****
was he applying for a multi-entry TOURIST visa?
Aimy *****
He said, the staff told him that, right now they only offer multiple entry for a year to Laos citizen only? This is what he was told by the staffs there.

@Ai**
, Taking loads of extra documents is unlikely to help at all. In fact it can muddy the waters. :/

Usually you just show the two marriage certificates (if you were married in thailand) or the marriage certificate from the country you were married in, the thai wife's i/d card & her house book listing.

Something is not quite right about this :/ because it doesn't matter if it's the first time or the fifth time you've applied for that visa in Savannakhet, they routinely issue year-long, multi-entry NOn-O's based on marriage.. You don't have to go with him either..
Aimy *****
He did, this is his first time doing it though so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this? He has always just been on WP before.
Aimy *****
That is what we thought, he took loads of extras documents as well which they did not care to glance at even slightly. Is it possible that I wasn't there in person with him? But I didn't think it was needed for me to be present...
Tod *********
This is the first time I've heard of someone pulling only a single entry Non-0 from Savannakhet based on marriage to a thai. Did he write multiple on the application?
Tod *********
There have been NO reports that Savannakhet changed their issuing policy. They still issue year-long multi-entry Non-O visas based on marriage to a thai national with no proof of finances and just the marriage certificates, the thai i/d and house book listing of the thai wife
Tod *********
Remember the thai consulates in Vietnam take USD for the visas.

You should have no problem securing a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai. They don't care about your daughter as you're not applying for the visa based on having children, just the marriage certificate, the house book listing and the id card of your wife is fine

I got this link from a person that went successfully to HCMC. As Steve Greir said correctly most people just go to Savannakhet/Laos which is just opposite of Mukdahan to get the yearly multiple there, based on marriage, without showing funds.

Alastair James Reilly. Apparently it is possible. It's also possible at the Thai consulate in Savannakhet, Laos. You'll need signed copies of those docs, shouldnt be a problem with your other half in tow, copies of your passport main page and a couple of passport photos. Let us all know how it goes.
