Heads up on getting a non "o" in Ho Chi Minh. Over the course of 2 days I was at the embassy a total of 5 minutes. There were no queues. He never questioned my documents. It was the easiest visa I've ever obtained. Just follow what their website requires and prepare. Bear in mind you have to pay in USD. Also I'm probably not allowed to talk about this here but you guys need to know to be really careful there. Never take out your wallet to pay a taxi, they're different to Thais. That's all I'll say.

@Je**
, The O in that visa type means "other", and it's like a catch all.

In addition to the ones you mention there's also supporting children & volunteering,

BUT I don't know any thai consulate nearby that will give year-long, multi-entry Non-O's for being over 50 (retirement) and getting one based on supporting children requires financial proof and volunteering requires a PILE 'o paperwork.

I've never had any problems in Vietnam. They're just real people and not sneaky like the ones you haven't learnt about yet here. I don't trust any taxis anywhere except Singapore. LOL Thanks for the information.
