How can I extend my Non-O visa as a spouse without recent tax records in Thailand?

Hi everyone,

I have a Non-O visa (Thai spouse) and am looking to extend it for another year. I have a working permit so originally tried opting in through a Thai employer, and I’ve almost completed all the documents. But, I don’t have any previous tax payment records in the country yet since I only started paying taxes here this year. These records should be available next year.

Now I've read the other two options: by pension as salary, and by securing a deposit of money sitting in a Thai bank account for '2 months'

I have a few questions:

1. Regarding the income certificate that meets the required amount, under which category does this fall? I already have the certificate (in Thai).

2. Do I still need to visit the embassy for this process, or are there additional documents I need to provide?

Lastly, does anyone have a reliable resource or checklist for these documents?

When I called Nakhon Pathom immigration office, they told me that without recent tax payments, I might need to leave the country and re-enter with a Non-B visa, which I think doesn’t seem to make sense in my case with Non-O visa. Any advice? Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on extending their Non-O visa as a Thai spouse, specifically regarding the income certificate, the necessity of visiting the embassy, and document requirements. They are concerned about not having recent tax payment records and mention alternative options like using a pension or bank deposit. Community comments suggest that having a sufficient amount in a Thai bank account for two months may suffice for the visa extension, and it's generally easier to follow this route instead of a work permit renewal.

You shouldn't need to visit your embassy, that's only to get the affidavit to prove your 40k + a month income. And as far as I know the UK embassy does not issue these and they are quite hard to get so you just need some bank statements from the past two months and/or a letter from your bank for evidence for the 400k.

If you've got 400k+ baht in the Thai bank ( for 2 months prior to application), just go that route for renewal, just using letter and statements obtained from bank ( no older than 7 days), plus copies of bank book upto and including application date. Dont go down the work permit route if you can help it. I'm married and have a work permit, and my employer organizes my visa renewal every year, and we always take the banked money route as much less paperwork.

If you have had the 400k sitting in your account for two months your best bet is to get it extended at your local immigration office. As far as I know this is for having a Thai dependent (a kid) or a wife. You could also go to Savannahket and use this 400k to get a multiple entry spousal visa.
