what letter? You always had to get address verification from some where...

The biggest issue will be opening a bank account locally and transferring money as well as getting a rental contract for an apartment. Just finding a bank is going to be quite time consuming. Bangkok Bank is usually the best bet. Many other banks have restrictions.

As others said your best bet is to talk to the local immigration department about what you need to do. Asap.

be aware that they have 24 hours to file report so you better stay a few days in hotel and and ask when you can get a copy of the filing.

DTV sounds better than retirement, but the "multiple entry'" had been disputed, some say 2x entry....

I'd like to verify that at this might come up later that you can renew your passport abroad and still enter using the stamps in the old passport?

Is it really in the requirement to move over the Visa and extension stamps? I know I had to do it before my extension in country they just gave me the forms and did it at the same time.

bangkok bank, ask for rules, other banks are more difficult as tourist.

In Bangkok the requirement to get the non-o 90 days is that you have at least 15 days left of your legal stay (can be extension), and you need to have 800k in bank account, and money needs to come from abroad (wire transfer).

That money comes from abroad isn't requirement everywhere apparently, sic.

Best to immediately open bank account and visit your local immigration to get a list of all the rules that apply at that office.

@James *******
when? I did mine in person 3 months ago. No problem.

Are you talking about Bangkok?

Can you be more precise what has changed and what is the source?

@Wayne *******
I said not the problem if you live in Bangkok we never redid our team 30 and I've even changed passports meanwhile. Over my 4 years. And I left plenty of times.

But yes you need to do the 90 day reports if you stayed 90 days...

I've asked immigration about it some years ago I said no you don't need to do it at least not in Bangkok.

But next time you go you better ask them... Maybe only you need to do it ;-)

@Tod ********
this happened to me in Bangkok his time the 90 days report have never worked for me during the four years I lived here.

I tried online and it got rejected. After waiting in line for 2 hours at the bank of immigration I finally go to the person and it was done in 2 minutes. I asked for the reason of rejection and she said that I haven't written the address correctly and yes there was no space for it I only wrote what the exactly us for and apparently my apartment number needed to be on it.

I'm not sure if it's a person actually doing the matching at the online or if it looks for exactly character by character...

But wasting a day doing this I felt that maybe I try to do online next time but if it doesn't work I just fly to Cambodia for a week and reset it. Such a nuisance. Can we just do the night today report in the 7-Eleven similar to buying a SIM card hold up your passport etc.
