Looks like those with older accounts should be fine, if they have conducted their account well, without lots of very large transactional activity. They are really closing mostly what they consider “mule accounts” A good clean up operation, get rid of the criminality. Just wondering if they are doing the same for some Thai national?🤔
I don’t think this publicity is good for Thailand, by all means go after mule accounts with suspicious transactional activities but not every DTV holder! But it’s Thailand only Thai logic exists.
What is Vietnam like, can tourists/remote workers open a bank account with debit card, online banking etc ?
if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, I doubt they are targeting those with many years/decades of account activity. Just keep it running, no need to doing anything, least said the better.
They aren’t closing every foreigner’s Thai bank account, they are usually targeting mule accounts with unusual transactional activities and of course there are a lot of those particularly in areas like Bangkok,Pattaya,Phuket, Hua Hin & Chiang Mai.
Yes leave the min before you get money charges, leave at least B3000 imo, it won’t be stolen, it would be refunded, in the event of account closure (obviously if the account has been closed for any alleged suspicious transactional activity, you may have to prove with certain monies originated from etc.
I really think they should allow all DTV holders a bank account and a debit card, I’m sure they understand it helps that person spending money in the local economy without unnecessary restrictions.🤷🏾‍♀️
