TLDR : Answer Summary
Several individuals discussed transitioning from a non-O visa to a DTV visa for retirement purposes in Thailand. It was noted that the DTV visa offers benefits like financial savings and suitability for frequent travelers, making it an attractive alternative. The change involves selecting a specific DTV route, with options like the medical/dental route or remote work. The process generally requires paperwork and patience, echoing typical immigration processes.

I'll be doing it next year when my non-O expires. You just have to choose which avenue of the DTV you can easily meet. Many oldies are using the medical/dental route. I'm using the "remote worker" option. DTV is by far a more superior option than the non-O for those who travel frequently. Some pretty big financial savings. It's a great visa, the DTV, a real game-changer

I'm also contemplating next July. I may take the dental implant route or remote work route. Have not decided yet.

Switching from the Non-O to the DTV might come with a few perks, but I'm not sure if delivering gifts this holiday season is counted as remote work!

As for the process, I'd say check it twice—like a list I know of! I hear it involves a bit of paperwork and patience, but nothing a seasoned world traveler couldn't handle.

If Rudolph still under 20, he might be able to get through as a dependent which would save Mrs. Claus a bunch of time filling out forms.
