Ahh man. I wish I’d known this. No appointments on the day I have to go. Never mind it’s going to be a good day anyway

Thanks for the tip. I’ve found the site and will be using it next time.

I did my conversion in country last week. Very similar form to the extension. A few more docs required such as a bank letter.

yeah. I suspected that to be the case from the fairly minimal research I did.

I successfully applied for my Non O last week anyway. Over 50. Got to go and get the initial stamp next week. Easy as ticking the boxes.

As will your DTV be.

Thanks man.

I did the same thing. Though I have no idea if it was necessary or how much of getting a visa is a kind of pre vetting or not at all.

Also transitioning to a long term visa even though I’m still bouncing. Just for peace of mind.

it’s enough on weeknights. It’s weekends where I need a bit more.

just note it’s 4Mbps. That’s 3G speeds from the 2000’s. In a world where apps and websites are far heavier on the data.

It’s doable though. Just something to be aware of.

if you’ve got a bank account it’s possible to convert here using a TM86 form which is very similar in style and length to the forms you fill out to extend tourist visas or waivers. With funds obviously.

I suspect the online process from the UK to be a fairly simple box ticking excerise.

You could likely do it with the help of a friend or family member. You could save a few hundred quid.

fair enough. I’m going on a sample size of just me.

I got some really excellent advice on here. Way better than Reddit or YouTube. I knew exactly the documents I needed in advance. I already had a bank account which made it a hell of a lot easier.

That said I’ve not got the stamp in my passport yet though. I’ll be thanking some people here formally if and when I get it.

but I applied to convert my tourist visa to a non O retirement on Tuesday in BKK. it took half an hour in the bank, 10 mins in the copy place, about 2 hours in the queue system and another 10 mins to process.

So easy.

I don’t get why anyone would pay to save 3 hours. Most of which were reading my book.

Unless I’m missing something here I don’t get why to pay an agent anything to save half a morning.

I was really worried about this but it was a nothing burger when I applied yesterday. I was trying to get a letter from the bank stating the funds were from abroad but my ‘secretary’ called immigration and they said I didn’t need this to apply.

All I needed regarding money was a letter from the bank which took about 20 mins and a copy of my updated bank book.

The whole process took under 10 mins. It was easier than applying for my tourist visa two months ago.

(Came in on a tourist visa. Already had bank account).
