Can anyone advise how long they might take to convert my new non O visa into the one year visa ? It took one and a half days at immi to get it done but only allowed to apply for the one year after 60 days from the date I applied or one month before it expires in March. I have to leave the country for 3 months just a few days after the date I am told to apply for the one year, will they give me it on the day I go or another inconvenient catch 22 hurdle yet again? Like have to start when I come back with a tourist visa waste money and 2 days doijg it all again ??? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The time to convert a Non-O visa into a one-year extension can vary, typically being issued on the day of application if all documents are correct. Individuals must apply for the extension after 60 days from the initial visa issuance or one month before expiry. It is advised to schedule an online appointment at the immigration office and prepare necessary documents to ensure a smooth process.

You will get the one year extension stamp in your passport on the day that you go to immigration, if you have all required documents.

Ahh man. I wish I’d known this. No appointments on the day I have to go. Never mind it’s going to be a good day anyway

Thanks for the tip. I’ve found the site and will be using it next time.

You obviously don't know you can also get a Non-O from outside Thailand so, yes, buying a Tourist Visa was indeed a waste of money and a double whammy.

Assuming the Non-O is based on age you will be applying for an extension of stay based on retirement. That's not a visa, just a stamp that allows you to stay for 12 months. It's normally issued on the day you apply for it. Remember you will also need a re-entry permit if you plan to leave the country after obtaining it

There is no converting anything. You apply for an extension.

And how long it takes will depend on the office, and what type of non-O you have. Since you have not told us both of those pieces of information, your question is not possible to answer.
