TLDR : Answer Summary
Expatriates seeking assistance with a retirement visa in Thailand have recommended various agents, including the Thai Visa Centre and One Stop Visa. Users shared their experiences, with fees ranging from 16,000 to 32,000 THB, depending on whether the applicant has their own funds in a bank account. There are conflicting reports about agents being able to provide the required 800,000 THB funds for the visa application, as immigration authorities have tightened these regulations. Overall, it's advisable to contact multiple agents for quotes and clarify their services before proceeding.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
  • Join the Thai Visa Advice Facebook Group to ask your questions, and get advice from others.

I used Thai Visa Centre for a couple of years.

They helped me through awkward situation and they were great.

I am not using them now.

But would not hesitate if I needed to use a agent again.

It is nobody else's business as to why someone uses a agent.

If needed.

Use a agent.

in case you already got a Thai bank account, and entered on a Non-Imm-O visa, the going rate for the 1-year extension is 32,000 THB for the first year, and around 15,000 for all follow-up years. In case you don't have a Thai bank account and entered on a touristic entry, the price is up from 60,000 THB

You are confusing a few things . . . without own funds in your bank account, no way you pay 16,000 for the first time 12-months extension of stay. That's the price for a follow up extension, using the same agent as for the first time. It rather is up from 30-32,000 THB for the first time if the agent has to put the money into your account, and it includes a re-entry permit . . . . By the way I got my 800,000 THB minimum in my bank account, I don't need an agent

both your problem is - you are confusing different processes with each other . . there actually are 5 different roads and 5 different price ranges, from 12,000 Baht up to 90,000 Baht, to get a 12-months extension done by an agent without own funds. And there are 3 different ways to get it done using own funds. Ray Low-On does not clarify which of the 5 ways he means. Nobody can say he is right or wrong because he didn't give us any details

if you ALREADY got a Thai bank account, and if this is ALREADY your 2nd or 3rd or more OFTEN application to a 12-months extension using an agent - without own funds - the situation is different. Then agents are operating within a range of 12,000 to 18,000 Baht

since February 2025, you cannot get a Thai bank account opened any more on a tourist visa or visa-exempt entry. THIS is where the problem starts. For an in-country full package (bank account, conversion from tourist to Non-O and 12-months extension) the going rate is 60,000 THB and up

this guy is apparently TWISTING the truth. He doesn't do a 12-months extension without own funds for the first time. What he is doing is using the agent to front the money for 5 minutes, to apply for a repeated extension using the same agent as before. Of course this is the "normal" price for a repeated annual application. . . . . I repaet what I know is 100% true -and this is a FACT: if you want to do the full package for the first time (bank account opening on a tourist visa, initial 90 days Non-O visa and 12-Months extension) without own funds, the price starts at 60,000 Baht

okay, okay! So you did this fully legally, using your own funds, you have your own 800,000 THB in your bank account, and it is the service fee of the agent (and actually you overpaid, because the agent in Pattaya I know will do the same for 7500 Baht when you use your own 800,000 THB). But you are off-topic. The guys here were talking about the agent putting 800,000 THB into your account and take it back out 5 minutes later. That's the "tea-money way". This one costs up from 32,000 THB. I STRONGLY doubt any agent serviced you for 16,000 THB, unless it was 10 years ago

Why do people get so upset about other people using agents? It’s borderline mental illness to get so worked up about something that doesn’t affect you!

They are just jealous to people using agents and paying a lot for them. And they are jealous because people using agents have spent more time for themselves while they are spending a lot of times on the street and come and go again and again to the immigration with full stress and hassles. Just because they have no money for using agents. If someone has enough money, why he does it alone? For people with enough money, they already know that time and health are the most important in life. they put the highest value on this. While the agent works for them, they enjoy their life and do something for their health. This is very clear. But if people have no money enough, they must do it all by themselves. That is why they are so jealous. to be honest, who really wants to do this all things with Thai authorities if they have enough money to pay for agents? That is why they are upset if anyone wants to use agent, that they never can afford.

but I applied to convert my tourist visa to a non O retirement on Tuesday in BKK. it took half an hour in the bank, 10 mins in the copy place, about 2 hours in the queue system and another 10 mins to process.

So easy.

I don’t get why anyone would pay to save 3 hours. Most of which were reading my book.

Unless I’m missing something here I don’t get why to pay an agent anything to save half a morning.

that is like lucky draw. No one knows how long it will take or how difficult will be all. That is uncertain. You may have good luck. and that is good for you. for some people like me, they do not expect any luck at all. So they decided to better hire agent to make it lucky. Well, we buy luck with money.

I got some really excellent advice on here. Way better than Reddit or YouTube. I knew exactly the documents I needed in advance. I already had a bank account which made it a hell of a lot easier.

That said I’ve not got the stamp in my passport yet though. I’ll be thanking some people here formally if and when I get it.

You looked to be prepared well. it is not just lucky for you. You did many things for your job in immigration. and plus luck. But if you hire agent, they can do everything for you. Even, they go to the bank to make it all for me. What I am doing is just giving them my passport and money and enjoy my life until they call me all is done. and they can bring my passport to my door. That is all. There shall be no mistake or no misunderstanding. So it is going like that easy. I do not know about your case, but I know me, I am not good at doing that things alone. maybe I am too lazy or old. 😂

YoungI've been doing my own retirement visa renewal since 2009. If you have the correct requirements it's neither hard nor time consuming if you get there around 9am. Just picked mine up today. Prefer to save 20k. But sure I can understand that many people just don't want the hassle. I'm not at all jealous of them or upset

yes you are also right in your way. I also have correct all required. But it does not matter of all correct requirements. The matter is I do not want to get there around 9 am 😅😅I want to go where I want and when I want. yes I am already retired. Why I have to be there so early??🤣🤣And why I have to wait there for hours? or even if anything nonsense by immigration officer happened? This is not impossible at all. Even very probably can happen. So why I have to have this unexpected things? And, I do not like to talk with Thai officers. The first reason is I can not speak Thai at all. Sorry but I am trying hard but Thai is simply too difficult for me to learn in my age. but I like Thailand. 😅 anyway, you saved 20 k THB for hours, yes good job for you. But I save my valuable hours by spending 20K THB. Plus, no hassle or stress is a bonus. I could sleep more enough, at my age, enough sleeping is important, or I can walk for Kms for my health or going to gym or listen to good music with a coffee at home. I can enjoy my time for hours while you go to immigration and do something there for hours and saved 20k THB. yes, so called, I bought my time and relax with 20kTHB. Nothing is bad to you. You did your job as you want and saved money for you. What you did is only for yourself. what I do is also for myself. Everyone has different conditions. But I just have more enough money, so I buy my times and saved my energy. to be honest, I saved money for this when retired. I would spend more money for my mental health and body health. That is why I saved enough money. I think many retirees can agree with this. the most important to use money for is health and enjoying life which is not long at all. It really does not matter for me if it is hard or easy. I just hire agents and have my time for myself. I also understand you too. good job for you. and I do good job for me too.

Maneerat - Soi Post Office. Very good. Not sure on pricing now as everything has gone up since the “new rules”. Probably around 40k ‘ish for the opening of the bank account, 800k then 15 months extension.

For different amounts they can also open in Bangkok and then expedite the service (from

memory it was 5 days in Bkk?)
