If you can't open a bank account or had to close it, and you have cash, then you can deposit your cash to TrueMoney at any True or Dtac or 7eleven shop, then you can:
- Pay via scan (PromptPay, TrueMoney) anywhere in Thailand (including individuals) with few limits
- Get a virtual MasterCard that you can use to pay online (e.g. App Store bills, AirBnB bills, etc)
- Transfer it to your True or Dtac balance to pay your mobile bills (it also works to pay your App Store bills via phone number)
- Transfer to a foreign bank account (EUR, USD, etc) via Swift
You just have to download the TrueMoney app and do a KYC (identity verification) and that's it
Hi all. I'm hearing KBank doesn't allow two different logins/apps for a single joint account. For those of you with joint accounts here, which bank are you using?
Specifically looking for a bank where we can both have the app installed on our own phones to see the balance and make transfers. Any recommendations?
Does Changwattana require a letter from the bank to show the immigration officer that the money for the retirement visa came from overseas, on the intial application
Bought a new phone and when I try to sigin in to Thai banking app, it says i need to go to branch to verify. (Opened my account in 2022 on tourist visa)
Now I'm on a DTV, and my passport also got renewed. (Have both old and new passport)
Do I take the risk and visit a branch? Has anyone went through something similar after purchasing a new phone?
I can still sign on my old phone... at least i can use it to trasfer money and use ATM when needed... wont be carrying around the old phone just to QR pay...
I am looking to open Thai bank account, any suggestions on which is the easiest to do business with. I have long term Non-O visa so I am just looking for a friendly bank in Nonthaburi.
I know some have been more aggressive with foreign account holders. I am looking for suggestions and real life experiences.
I think i know the answer to my question but would like confirmation please.
I will come on a Non O visa (marriage) next year. We are coming over in February and need a bank account which will be in my wife's name. I know we can't have a joint bank account to show the money for my extension. But can I transfer it to my account when I've opened it.
Secondly can I bring cash over to put into my account once opened. Coming from my UK bank. Pensions. I will probably keep the 400k in a separate account and not touch it.
Well this is interesting , just gone into my kbank in the shopping centre to get a global inward form . In conversation they told me that new accounts cannot be opened now with a 90 day non o evisa . I opened mine over a month ago with this type . I thought really , lady in bank said government has changed what type .
So anyway I went into SCB and asked to open an account to be told the same information.
For info only , don’t know if this will be the same everywhere
I’ve had a DTV since earlier in the year and managed to open a bank account shortly after (wasn’t easy).
I’m planning to move to a new city and province in the next month.
I’m reluctant to inform my local branch in case it causes issues (e.g. order me to close and reopen a new account at my new local branch or even just re-review and clsoe account given my visa type)
My questions for those of you who have experience of Thai banking;
1. Do I need to inform the branch where I opened the account that I’m moving province?
2. If I don’t inform them are there any drawbacks or consequences to this?
For extra context; I haven’t had need to go into the local branch since opening. I have other multiyear investment products / bonds tied to the account which is win/win to keep open for both myself and the branch. Total volume going though the account is reasonably high and account is well used.
