Is there anyone entering to Thailand from Vientiane - Nong Khai border lately on border bounce purpose? Is there any abnormal situations? I'm just curious coz I'm gonna do that tomorrow.
Hi. I a uk citizen and arrived here on a 60 day exemption from Philippines. I extended this for 30 day in Chiang Mai.
The extra 30 days will expire soon and my thinking is to go to Laos via Nong Khai then return to be able to extend my stay?
Can I return via the same land border and get another 60 day visa exemption stamp? If so, can I do this on the same day? Or do I need to go to the Thai embassy in Vientiane to get a tourist visa for Thailand? Alternatively, if I fly back to Bangkok from Laos, will I get another 60 day visa exemption?
Any clarity on this much appreciated.
Apologies if this a repeated question. I've read a lot of contrasting information on this and am pretty confused. It also sounds like the rules may have been changed recently.
Follow up from my previous post regarding the nong khai border.
Today I exited Thailand via the nong khai border. The immigration lady said “oh last day of extension. Spent long time here. If you want to enter Thailand again then take flight, don’t enter through here”. Do they have a system to flag you that din’t let this person enter through land border or something?
So I guess visa exemption won’t be possible now. I wanted to understand that if I get an actual visa from the Vientiane embassy, then can I attempt to enter through this border?
I really don’t want to fly back because I have heard that people have been denied entry at the airport even if they had valid tourist visas.
I need to enter Thailand because all flights back home also go via bkk 😕
Hi, I asked similar question before so sorry for asking again but just wanted some advice. I have an Indian passport. I was planning to do a visa run at the end of my 30 day exemption+30 day extension through the Nong Khai border but recently came across something called as a border bounce but not sure what are the advantages/disadvantages. Considering that I have already flown to Thailand multiple times in the last year(spent 4.5 months cumulatively last year), what would be the best choice for me? I am not interested in a visa agency because they are too expensive and it sounds rather uncomfortable being crammed in a van for 10 hours+.
1 - Go to Laos for an hour or so and come back to Thailand(Nong khai border) under the 30 day visa exemption.
2 - Spend a night in Laos and come back to Thailand(nong khai border) under the 30 day visa exemption.
3 - Go to the Thai embassy in Laos and get a 60 day tourist visa and come back through the nong khai border. This would mean that I would need to spend atleast 2-3 days in Laos waiting for this visa. I have booked an appointment already just to be safe.
I am currently on visa extension(after 30 days of visa exemption, for a total of 60 days). I plan to stay in Thailand for 15 more days after my visa ends.
Would it be a good idea to go to Laos for a night or two and then re enter Thailand via the Nong Khai border using visa exemption or is it too risky?
Last year I had spent a total of around 135 days in Thailand if that matters(Indian passport).
