Thanks Mark. I meet the visa age requirement for retirement. Is there any advantage to moving the required funds now? And do I stamp in with V exempt and then start the retirement visa, or is there anything I can do in advance....like depositing the funds or anything else??

Thai passport holders have similar visa entry requirements in Mexico - so walking across the souther border would require getting a visa to enter Mexico. Itexempt there or in the USA for a Thai passport holder.

after this scenario, can any of this be extended with leaving the country? I’m still over a year out to her USA visa locked up and planning. I’d like to plan ahead and cushion my first year and use the time to decide what long term visa would be best for me as retired, over 50, and married to Thai.

I wouldn't play the lottery with those guesses. But thank you for your reply.

If you have an active K-1 Visa petition in the works, you could risk getting the I-129 disapproved

and there is a lot more riding on that process than a tourist visa.

Check the FB group K1 (fiancé visa) Support Group. Plenty of experience with this same issue.
