Can anyone give advice on the DTV visa, when applying for culinary courses. Does have to be with an approved school or college? Does the course have to be for a certain length of time? Sorry I’m applying at The Thai Embassy London

Hey folks, looking for some guidance from anyone who has applied and received the DTV from London Embassy. They look for a contract of employment showcasing remote worker. Is it as simple as inserting into a contract " The employee is required to work remotely at an address of their choosing" or is there a wording format needed? TIA.

DTV APPROVED

London Thai Embassy

Applied 24th Aug

(Waited to finalise my flight booking)

Submitted flight booking 23rd Sept

Received 24th Sept

Documents required

Contract from company stating the right to work abroad.

Letter addressed to Thai embassy confirming my role and right to work abroad.

Bank statement with 500,000thb from ONE ACCOUNT. Statement PDF.

I had initially not attached flight info to the application as I applied with Pedang Besar as my entry. I then had to prove travel from London - Thailand (including any layovers) and show my flight ticket.

Visa was issued the following day after submitting my flight.

Has anyone successfully contacted the Thai embassy in London? If so what number and email address and best time to contact.

We’ve sent 2 emails now and received no response and can’t seem to get through on the phone either 🤷‍♀️

A quick question about the e-visa situation from Thai embassy London. When applying for a SINGLE ENTRY non immigrant visa o based on Thai wife they ask for proof of either 400k or having a monthly income in the UK of over 40k per month. Everywhere else I've ever applied for my single entry they do not require this. My question is is this the e-visa website failing to properly consider single entry requirements or is this actually the requirements for a single entry from the UK.

I am hoping a remote worker on here has managed to get their DTV through the online application into the London embassy.. I have approval to work a cycle of 3 months Thailand and then 1 month in London, but 2 questions/requests:

1: I have just deposited significantly more than the 500k baht in both a U.K. bank and WISE, how long did London need to see the balance?

2: Would you be willing to share privately or at least give a summary of the employment letter details that was successfully accepted as proof of remote employment? My company will not update my contract but will provide a side letter and word it as I need..

I will work in Thailand from end of September until early November so can delay applying for DTV until November if I need to show balance for 2 months and go on the usual 60 day visa this time..

Many thanks…

Today I received my DTV from the Thai Embassy in London, in about 5 working days from account creation to visa.

At first I had applied for a private cooking course with a professional chef, however I changed my strategy to Muay Thai lessons after being requested by the London embassy specifically for a headed confirmation letter from a school.

I confirmed with the London embassy that yes, when applying from the UK I must be applying to a school, not with an individual. This is slightly stricter than the official "Thai department of consular affairs (Bangkok)" line, who stated that it does not have to be a school and private lessons would be okay.

My wonderful girlfriend helped me find [members only] Muay Thai school.

They answered promptly to my initial email and booked me onto a course with just email correspondence which was great.

Bashir from Tiger Eye was very very helpful dealing with my request and seemed to have all the documents templates ready to go, which shows that there are schools actively participating in the DTV scheme.

Note on contacting the London Embassy:

Google reviews have stated that staff at the London Embassy of Thailand are near impossible to reach. This was not my experience. I called at around 4:30pm last Wednesday. I just waited past the dial tone, and the message that "[they were] only open until 12", reaching a member of staff in about half an hour.

DTV Application - Online.

[members only]

Processed by the Thai Embassy, London.

I applied under the ‘company director’ option.

I sent them the following;

Full UK companies house registration document. I also attached a letter stating I am the sole director of this company and I offer online business development services and that I work remotely and I wish to work remotely in Thailand hence the reason for this visa application.

The name of my Ltd company also states ‘ online services’

I sent 1 bank statement showing the funds required.

I used my driving licence as proof of UK address.

I sent name, address and contact details of the landlord of the rental property I would be staying at in Thailand

After 2 days there was a request for further documents;

Other request documents: - Self assessment tax return 2023-2024 / Statement of accounts / Accountant's letter / Personal tax calculation or computation statement from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC)

Other request documents: - A copy of your bank statement printed out with the authorization by the bank . Please ask your bank to print out those and take the picture and upload to support your application.

I replied with a letter from my accountant and a photo of the same bank statement, just printed out and not the PDF version.

2 days later, visa approved.

This was a very very simple process for.

I hope this helps some others who are applying.

I will share my DTV experience. Applied in UK so London dealt with everything. Applied on a Wednesday, got a reply the next day requesting more information, i.e., proof of freelance status, proof of savings, and a professional portfolio. In my original application I thought I had shown my freelance status, but they wanted a filed tax return or a letter from my accountant - so I sent a copy of my tax return downloaded from HMRC, my savings had been shown being in 3 different accounts, so I transferred the money into 1 account that day and sent a statement, and as an online tutor, I didn't have a professional portfolio, so I put one together and hoped it would pass. Two days later DTV issued. Thank you very much to the Thai Government, as this 5 year visa is a dream come true.
