Why is it so difficult for LTR visa holders to open bank accounts in Thailand?

When I opened my bank account they asked for UK ID card and passport. We don't have ID cards ( not since just after the war ). I gave them my seniors bus pass, which had my county's govt address on it and my photo. Convinced them it was equivalent of an ID card. 😆

All depends on your reason to enter Thailand. Tourist? Enter for 60 days exempt of visa. Or get a Non O based on what reason you want to go there, no police check or mandatory insurance.
