TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking assistance for their Thai daughter-in-law who needs to verify her marriage certificate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Phuket for submission to the US embassy. Several comments suggest that the certificate needs to be translated first and then verified by the Thai Ministry. However, finding the local Ministry office in Phuket has proven difficult, with some recommending checking the consular section at Central Festival Mall and others indicating that verification might require a trip to Bangkok. The conversation also highlights confusion surrounding the exact requirements from the US embassy regarding marriage certificate legality.

Have you check at Consular section at Central Festival? I am not sure if it is just only for Thais to get passports or not but i think your daughter in law can try to call them and find out.
maybe. I'll get her to ask. We're having a nightmare with other US stuff,

The Thai ministry of foreign affairs in BKK has translators in the building on the second floor you can pay for translation and legalization. Maybe the same in Phuket? After you get married and have a Thai marriage certificate it needs to be translated back to Englisch, legalized by the ministry and then taken to your embassy in Thailand to legalize again.
yes, they've got marriage certificate and translation. Been married 10 years. Now need to find Thai ministry if in phuket. Or she'll have to fly to BKK.

Typically needs to be translated and then attested by Thai MOFA in Bangkok and then attested at the US Embassy Bangkok.
Can you read the info I'm sending you in the link please?
"REGISTERING YOUR MARRIAGE IN THE USA: You cannot register your marriage through an embassy or consulate as marriage is a state-specific responsibility. Most states recognize the validity of legal marriages registered in Thailand. If you would like to register your marriage in the United States, you must contact the Attorney General in your state of residence to inquire about their specific documentary requirements. Some states may require your Thai marriage certificate to be “certified.” To certify a Thai marriage certificate, please have it translated into English and take both documents to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Legalization Division. Then make an appointment and bring the MFA-certified documents to our office; we will authenticate the signature of the MFA officer by appointment for the appropriate fee."
we are just looking for the Thai Ministry of foreign affairs contact in Phuket. To get the document verified as required by US embassy instructions. We couldn't find it by Google.
the info we got from Bangkok embassy was for US citizen registering their marriage to a Thai. Not 2 us citizens getting married abroad. My son isn't a resident in usa of any state.
yes. Thank you. That's helpful. When we asked embassy they gave different info. But we've had problems with other issues at embassy. Wasted a lot of time and money visiting for an appointment to notarise a document the US govt said they needed done by embassy. But embassy said no, it wasn't needed. But it was.
yes. Maybe. We looked on US embassy page. They said marriage certificate needs verified by Thai Ministry translation and signature are real. Then take to US embassy. Couldnt find the contact for Ministry in Phuket.
