Chiangmai is not laid back..despite the pollution for two months it gets cery crowded with tourist and lots of festival. I sigfest you go to Fang..very quiet,.local, really laid back..back cleanest village..we had a summer house there once in the middle of orange orchards and rice fields..frogs and birds are tour only companion..
that I know..that's what we did although we were lucky to have opened a bank account with Bangkok bank years ago to apply for retirement visa..now with dtv we still keep our Bangkok bank limit above the 500k baht
Am incorrect to say that VIP service fee is not collected by the IO...instead paid to an agency as a VIP assistance to provide you with access to priority lane where line up is short and as long as docs are in order no questions asked? We have used it twice despite having dtv and it was always a convenient way..
