TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV visa is active from the day it is issued, and you have until the expiry of your current stamp (typically 60 days) to exit Thailand and activate it. It's recommended to print a copy of the visa and ensure you receive the correct duration of stay upon re-entry.

glad you finally got it and it all worked out. Leave whenever it's convenient but before your 60 days expires. I'd print a copy to take with you and check to make sure you get the 180 days when you get stamped in again. After everything you've gone through to get it, I'd be paranoid of anything going wrong!

I'd seen your previous posts and questions in this and the DTV group so was happy you finally got it.

You have until your current stamp expires I guess unless you want to extend that

Not correct. One can request a visa and due to long request period already enter thailand before the visa is assigned.

Furthermore you can have a DTV and a Non B visa with workpermit. Cases already known where people while on DTV found a job here and got the apropriate visa. No problem. The DTV is still valid but pauzed.

I think extending the 60 day visa exempt while having DTV is not a good idea, it might invalidate the DTV.

Being in Thailand on visa exempt while you have a valid DTV is already a bad situation, you should not make it worse with extension of visa exempt.

Maybe the best is to leave and reenter as soon as possible.

Nonsense. It really makes no difference. No bad situation.

You should not be in a country on another way when you have a visa.

That this happened is because rules were not followed and

made a choice between 2 wrong things and choose the less wrong one, but that does not make it correct.

It is active the day it is issued up to the 5 year expiry date

but it arrived days after I reentered Thailand. Was given only 60 day visa exempt..

so next time you enter Thailand you will get 180 days whether that is tomorrow or in 59 months time

You can't get the DTV while in Thailand. You apply for it at an embassy in about country.

I was in Vietnam and applied from there..I guess youissed the thread..I am full aware of the process..due to expiring visa in Vietnam I had to come.to.thailand..so now that it arrived I just need to fly out and reenter to activate it..sorry if I confused you..

@Alma **************
in that case your DTV is valid 5 years, so you have 5 years to enter the country to activate it ๐Ÿ‘Œ
