TLDR : Answer Summary
To cross the border to Malaysia or Laos in your car, ensure the vehicle is registered in your name and that you have the blue book. You'll need to obtain a vehicle passport from the land transport office. For Malaysia, have your driving license translated into English at the border and arrange for car insurance there. Additionally, ensure that your car's window tint is compliant with regulations to avoid issues during the crossing.

we have been to Laos four times, on subsequent two purple books, never received any new number plate, but a country elliptical sticker with "T". Is this maybe a requirement for Malaysia?
