Any advice on the easiest dtv visa to obtain..both over 50 early retired..hubby went to 2 agents here in CNX but not too clear..sending us to Cambodia saying they have contacts there within 10 days we get the dtv...scared to say we hit a brick wall having done 2 border runs this year so we got pulled over..although given 60 days upon entry we were told to get proper visa..

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on obtaining a Thai DTV visa for early retirees over 50, expressing concerns about conflicting information from agents and previous failed border runs. There are specialist DTV groups on FB where ppl have actually got the visas so ask your question on there.

am I boring you with my questions? I thought this is a good place to ask..excuse my ignorance ..

It's not a case of boring. It's a case of where you'll get the best advice. This visa is new and likely to apply to very few people. You need to hear case studies - exactly what applicants have done and where - and choose according to their lived experience.

people are offering you information and trying to help. I find it disrespectful that you would be snide to a person helping you.

I kind of offended too..I was hoping I came to the right place ..just to be pushed away ..

search "muay thai dtv visa" on Google you might find all the information you need. As long as you have at least 500K THB in any bank account and enrollment letter from the gym then you will be qualified for DTV.

Can we use the Muay Thai class for health reasons like keeping in shape and not as a sport?

it doesn’t matter what your reasons are

But will they check if we actually attend the class ?

If you qualify a Non O based on over 50. Why not just get a retirement Visa ?

we can but hubby feels the money works better for us to be used in our investment instead and sitting in the bank..considering the amount for both of us..

if you want to avoid putting money in a Thai bank then go back to your home country. One of you would then apply for a Non-OA visa and the other a Non-O visa as their dependant (known as a trailing spouse visa). No money in a Thai bank required at all.

But the reality of the Non-O Retirement visa is not as bad as people make out, you actually do need money to live on in Thailand. If your embassy (I don't know your nationality) provides an income affidavit/certificate you can use this inside Thailand and again don't need money in a Thai bank.

If your embassy doesn't provide an income affidavit then you need 800k baht in a Thai bank for the initial 90 day visa and the first 12 months extension of that, during that 12 months you can transfer 65k baht from overseas each month and use that for the 2nd extension and going forward, you can spend that 65k baht as it arrives

sounds like you want to have your cake and eat it too. You don’t want to spend the money on the appropriate visa, you want to get a cheaper visa and abuse it’s purpose.

What mode will you apply? Soft power? Do you each have 500k?

Bec we have established ourselves here already since years with a rental house ,car and furnishings..basically our whole life is here..until this new rule..
John *******
@Alma **************
what new rule?
Alma ***************
ORIGINAL POSTER
180 days per year is it? We already had the first 90 days so coming back now for our second 90 days

.that's why they told us to get proper visa so that we can come back in when we leave at the end of this current 90 days

- DTV is just a new type of visa, not a new rule. Shouldn’t impact anything else.

If you’re passed 50 years and have funds, have you considered to simply just apply for a Non O visa and extension of stay only based on this requirement?

If you’re applying based on the soft power options as muay Thai boxing you’ll need to get approved by a gym that can provide you the required documentation first.

my hubby says.muay thai for health reasons, will it be ok? I'm gearing towards thai language but it might restrict Bec we travel out of Thailand a lot..
John *******
@Alma **************
Thai language isn’t covered by DTV, but if your husband applies under Muay Thai soft power and is approved, you can than apply as his dependent (spouse). So you would not need to sign up for classes/course
