It is possible to get a 'retirement visa' without the 800k but will cost 20-30k each year... Some immigration offices will do this without an agent.

- admirable. Unfortunately some do not have the confidence or aptitude or may have age or health issues that make this challenging. Additionally I've just used an agent to renew my passport simply because it's cheaper then making two trips to BKK from Isaan. I've been here 20 years.
