Hello friends. Preparing to use my DTV and spend significant time in Thailand. My team works west coast U.S.A. hours, so I'd be working 9pm - 6am on weekdays. Is it possible to still enjoy a good quality of life in Thailand as basically a graveyard shift worker? Any insights are appreciated.

I am living in Bangkok on an LTR visa and this June was my first complete months of rent an apartment in Bangkok. For all expenses, ie. rent, transportation, girlfriend’s partial expenses, eating, etc. I will have racked up approximately $2,600 USD. I wanted to spend no more than $2000 USD per month thus feeling a little over spent this month. I feel I neither overspend nor underspend in general. What is the consensus out there on my June spending for a single retiree in Bangkok?

Does anyone have any experience in transporting stuff to Thailand from Europe? I’m about to move to Thailand for workation (DTV visa), I’m a music producer and sound engineer so obviously I’ll need to bring some gear with me to do my remote work.

How much? Well, here’s the thing: I could technically take the bare minimum that will fit into let’s say 3 flyable cases. That plus personal items would make me fly with at least 7-8 pieces of luggage, and give me only basic stuff. To be comfortable I’d need to bring gear in volume closer to a pallet or preferably two.

Is there any point in trying to organize something like a pallet freight or is it simply not worth it / not possible / not economically viable? Do you actually know someone who could help?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Simple question but I’m a bit confused.

If I put 800000bht in an account is it also necessary to have another amount coming in to another account each month?

Wanted to share my experience entering via Suvarnabhumi Airport on DTV visa.

As soon as the IO lady saw my DTV, the first question asked to me was “how long you’ll stay here?” I answered 4 months. Then she said “what will you do for 4 months?”, I said I’m a remote worker for a US company and I plan to travel and work online. She then asked me to show almost all documents I used to apply for the DTV visa. Thankfully, I had them on my laptop.

I was asked to show my Employment Contract, Employment Letter, Company registration documents, Bank statements, rent agreement for my stay in Thailand, my portfolio website. The IO lady kept noting something down on a sheet of paper. She asked why I applied for the DTV from Laos instead of my home country. I replied, “because I came to know about DTV while I was in Thailand on visa exemption already, and flight to Laos was much cheaper than a flight to my home country.” She gave me a odd look and finally was stamped for 180 days.

Overall, it seems if you’re entering on DTV, you’ll have to pass their questionings. Better have all the required documents and the required bank balance as well.

Hello, I’m going to apply for the DTV but I’m not sure whether I should go for the soft power or remote worker route.

My plan is to attend soft power activities (regardless of DTV) for a few months but I wonder whether it will hold up in the long run since it doesn’t really make that much sense for one to do the activities for 5 years.

Would it be okay if I show my earnings as a remote worker during future entries if I initially apply under soft power? Was wondering since the DTV visa document itself doesn’t really state which category it was issued under, and I earn in my local currency through my company.

If anyone has a good idea on which type (soft power vs remote) would be more suitable in the long run, please enlighten me.

Thanks in advance.

Hi. I’m currently in Thailand now, have a 6 month rental. I am enquiring with someone about getting an educational visa. I only want to be here 6 months, I’ve been here 1.5 month currently. Am I best to get the educational visa or extend my 60 day visa by a further 30 days, do a visa run and spend a week in Malaysia for example, then return? Will I be able to get another extension when I return? So that I can spend a further 60 + 30 days here. I am happy to get the educational visa but I am just weighing up options as I only intend to be here 6 month in total. Thank you
