Just renewed my Non-immingrant O visa (married to a Thai). My Australian passport will expire in the middle of 2027.

Am I correct in thinking the correct way to proceed would be to renew my passport sometime during the next 12 months (ie prior to the next visa renewal), take my passport(s) to the immigration office and have the visa/reentry permit stamps transferred to the new passport so I present a passport that is valid beyond the life of the visa when I do it again it 2027?

I'm sure this has been discussed a thousand times time but the search function wasn't too helpful. Probably operator error..... Thanks in advance.

When you renew your passport remember to factor in when your 90 day report is due and have everything to do it online if necessary

I did the same thing a few months ago at the Pattaya immigration office.

They charged me 500 baht to transfer my visa stamps from my old Australian passport to the new one.

It took them 24 hours.

there is actually no "official fee" (I'm sure you didn't get a receipt for that 'stamp transfer')

and

not all offices hold your passport overnight.

still good to know how Jomtien operates ๐Ÿ™‚

Most offices do it while you wait for free ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

You are correct, before you go apply for your next yearly extension, renew your passport, go to your immigration office and get the stamps transferred and then apply for your following years extension on a passport that has a long validity.
