Not sure about that but like three people came on here for help last week and said the 20k on hand was required. They were detained for hours. They wouldn't even let them go to an ATM machine to get the money.

Make sure you have that 20,000 baht in cash on you. There's been a bunch of stories this past of people denied entry and detained.

It's like anything else. There's a law against j-walking in the us. 98% of the time you won't get called out on it but if you do, live with it because it's a law and you just broke it. Not saying it's good or bad but it's there.
