I hope a curiosity question about a VISA is allowed. If someone arrived like 5-10 years ago and applied and received either a NON-O VISA here or a NON-OA VISA back home And in that time received a new passport because the previous one expired. How will immigration know what type of visa we originally received? To my understanding the database information thing has only been in affect for a couple of years.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When a person who has lived in Thailand for several years obtains a new passport, immigration can still track the original visa type (NON-O or NON-OA) through their records. Although a new passport is issued, Thai Immigration keeps detailed records of past entries and visa statuses, which include stamps with information about the original visa. If a copy of the visa is needed for verification, it can often be found on the first page of the new passport, where the details of the visa transfer are noted.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

Okay, listen up. IF you have gotten a new passport since you originally had your first visa, look at the FIRST page of your new current passport. IT will have the original type of visa listed in the stamp transfer on the top of the first page. It will clearly say whether you had an O-A or an O.

It will NOT show on your yearly extensions whether the original visa was an O or an O-A.

And as this question post posed by the OP is related to the new O-A Visa health insurance requirements, I close commenting and move this post to the Master post.

Its in the Thai Immigration data base. A new passport does NOT make a difference. Thai Immigration has your complete history of entries, exits and any service provided by them to you.

Thank You Robert.

You applied for the VISA before you made your way into Thailand. If you get a new passport from your Embassy in Bangkok, you also get a letter to transfer your stay into your new passport. And if you stayed for years, you look at the first page of your new passport and there is a stamp with all the information. Which visa you came into the country in what year etc.

It doesn't really matter, you will be extending your previous years extension along with the rules that are attached to it.

There will be a small change in requirements from 31 Oct 2019. It could matter for some people
