ORIGINAL POSTER
Not specifically visa related but passport related so this is just a heads up. Just had a friend who had to leave Thailand abruptly and tried to transfer a his Bangkok bank funds back to his home country. He had issues as his original bank accounts were tied into a previous passport number he registered the accounts under years ago. He had to jump through a bunch of hoops and updated the account to his current passport. Good idea if you get a new passport to synchronize the account to the new passport. Never know if you have to depart all of the sudden. Apologies if this is already common knowledge.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post highlights the importance of updating your bank account information in Thailand when you obtain a new passport. A user recounts their friend's experience of facing issues transferring funds because their bank account was linked to an old passport number. The conversation emphasizes that expats should synchronize their bank accounts with their current passport to avoid complications, especially in urgent situations. Several comments affirm this advice and add that updating other personal information, like rental agreements, is also advisable.

I found out that without the updated passport number, when you lose your ATM card only your home branch can issue a new card.

Also if you rent a home and move it's a good idea to update them too. I updated both lots of details quite recently with SCB. Only a 5 minute job so well worth it.
