Like I said I witnessed my friend do it, and I verified his stamp. He took great joy in showing me his 90 days knowing he needed only 30 himself and I was going to have to pay 1900 baht just to get 60.

Not only that but I’ve known of several others who have crossed the border and received their 90 days.

Just not sure about Mae Sai ...

Miguel Angelo In another group, this was asked and someone said that they were told when trying to cross at Mae Sai that they wouldn’t get their 90 days. I can’t remember if they actually crossed the border and got /whatever days or if they didn’t bother to go through with it at all.

Of course, hearsay.

Edit: Also possible he’d already met his 2 visa exemptions and that’s why it was not allowed.

I was with a Chilean friend and we crossed overland from Vientiane (WITHOUT visas). He received 90 days at the border. This was early Feb 2018.

you are allowed to cross overland *on the exemption scheme* twice per calendar year.

This is well known.

Has nothing to do with 60 day visas.
