Does DTV activate immediately after it's issued, or upon entering Thailand?

(So, can I apply for DTV 3 months before I travel?)

I got my DTV visa approved for Thailand, but my plans changed. My flight was delayed by about a month, so my entry date and departure location are different from what I submitted. I’ll enter Thailand about 4 months after applying.

Has anyone had a similar situation? Did it cause any issues or require any updates?

Thanks!

Hi all,

Thinking I already know the answer but thought I'd double check with the lads,

I'll be applying for a Non O prior to travelling to Thailand with the intent of getting married and staying, I understand 90 days from arrival and opening a bank account, registering the marriage and then applying for the 12 month extension once these things are sorted.

Question is

Does the original Non O visa expire, do I have to enter Thailand to activate within a certain time frame from when the visa is issued.

So here’s my experience getting a Thailand DTV visa… and doing it the way everyone says NOT to do it.

HANOI DTV APPLICATION TIMELINE:

02/06 Applied

02/09 Requested more info

02/10 Submitted additional documents

02/11 Flew back to Bangkok (forgot my external HD and needed files ASAP)

02/12 DTV approved 😫

Honestly way faster than I expected, especially considering I left Vietnam mid-process.

Now the real question… how exactly do I get this stamped into my passport? Anyone gone through activation yet?

Hi All. So my DTV is approved! My question is, is there a time limit on when I need to move there by? (My plan was later in the year, but I wanted to apply for it asap, before the DTV may "go away"

Thanks!

Quick question.. does anyone know if it’s possible to activate it first time coming back into Thailand at land borders by bus at Nong Khai or Chong mek etc or is there a new rule where you have to fly back into thailand ? Much appreciated any feedback regarding this matter . Cheers

Had to fly into Thailand b4 I got my Non O visa so in Thailand November 30th with visa exempt. Subsequently got my Non O approved from New York Thai Consulate January 7 to April 6. If go to Laos can I re-enter Thailand on my Non O? Udon Thani Immigration said didn't know for sure.

My partner has a 60 day Tourist Visa for Thailand ......from the Thai Embassy.

If she enters Thailand is that automatically activated or can she get a 14 day visa free entry and then activate the Visa when we return after a trip away.

To do what we would like to do we have to enter Thailand due to flights .... its unfortunately impossible to transit.

I suspect I know the answer but hope springs eternally.......

Thanks so much

Hey

I applied for a multiple entry tourist visa over 2 weeks ago and still haven’t heard back from the embassy. My flight is in 4 days and I do have 60 day visa free entry.

Does anyone know what happens if I just go without the visa and then the visa gets approved while I’m already in Thailand? Would I need to leave and re enter to activate it?
