To clarify, I have a multiple entry, 1-year non-O for reason of marriage (from HCMC consulate). I re-entered Thailand most recently on 11 Feb and have been in-country since. I am aware that it is not possible to cross most borders to get another visa or even to re-enter (and get another 90 days). The visa expires on 20 Aug. My guess is my only immediate option is the 60 day extension based on marriage. If I found work would I be able to get a work permit and change to an extension based on employment within the 60 day time frame? I really thought that 2 months of 40,000 THB internationally transferred to my Thai bank account was something that met requirements and I do not have the 400,000 THB needed.

If the Thai Consulate at Phnom Penh doesn't work out, try HCMC, Vietnam, not far, but you may need a visa (depending on country of origin/passport). You can do online eVisa if needed.

Also note that the 1 year expiration is an "enter by" date, which means if you time it well, you'll have nearly 15 months of stay in Thailand on the visa.

I got a non-O marriage back-to-back visa at HCMC, Vietnam two weeks ago. This is after three in a row at Savannakhet. The paperwork is the same. Cost is 200 USD instead of 5,000 THB. The only additional thing needed is a hand-written or typed note from the Thai spouse making a request on behalf of the foreign spouse. Flights are pretty cheap on Viet Jet and Air Asia. Much more interesting city to hang out a few days.

Well OK, you may be right. I go for the multi-O marriage and it's a walk in the park, Tourist class could be very different. Thanks for the feedback.

Pretty sure that Savannakhet, Laos is as, or more, user-friendly, than Vientiane, just due to the volume of traffic. Getting there can be more complicated, however.
