Can I get a 60-day extension based on marriage and then switch to employment in Thailand?

For some reason I thought it was possible to get a one year extension of stay on an O visa, for reason of marriage, with 2 months of 40,000 THB from abroad. I was told 12 months of 40,000 THB or 2 months of 400,000 THB (lump sum). Apparently I can still get a 60 day extension on my visa which expires soon, but only if I already had 400,000 THB to deposit in the bank, would I have enough time to season it before the 60 day extension expired.

Given that, I've got to find a plan B. Is it possible to get that 60 day extension of stay based on marriage, and then within the 60 days, find employment and then apply for an extension of stay based on employment? Also, is it possible to get an extension of stay based on caring for my two half-Thai children (is there a banking requirement for that)?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking options for extending their stay in Thailand on a non-O visa based on marriage but faces financial constraints. They inquire about the possibility of obtaining a 60-day extension for visiting family and later switching to an employment extension if they find work within that period. Additionally, they ask if they can get an extension based on caring for their half-Thai children and about the banking requirements for that.

You have limited options, get the 400K baht proof of funds here in a thai bank account in your name only, go get the 60 day visit thai family extension and then apply for a year extension either based on marriage or based on raising half thai children.

To clarify, I have a multiple entry, 1-year non-O for reason of marriage (from HCMC consulate). I re-entered Thailand most recently on 11 Feb and have been in-country since. I am aware that it is not possible to cross most borders to get another visa or even to re-enter (and get another 90 days). The visa expires on 20 Aug. My guess is my only immediate option is the 60 day extension based on marriage. If I found work would I be able to get a work permit and change to an extension based on employment within the 60 day time frame? I really thought that 2 months of 40,000 THB internationally transferred to my Thai bank account was something that met requirements and I do not have the 400,000 THB needed.

No, you can get a 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family without having any money in the bank. This extension of stay SHOULD be stamped starting on September 27, letting you stay until November.

Yes, you can get that extension of stay based on employment off an extension of stay based on visiting Thai family, to my knowledge.

> Also, is it possible to get an extension of stay based on caring for my two half-Thai children (is there a banking requirement for that)?

Yes you can, however you need the 400K THB seasoned in a Thai bank account for two months.

I'm married. Which means i do not need to obtain legal parent from family court. By producing marriage cert & birth cert, with bank amount of 400k in my sole name without the need of 2months seasoning right. To be sure. Thanks

To my knowledge, yes. Go to your local immigration office and ask them for the handout for the one year extension of stay based on raising half-Thai children.

Noted. Thank you.

Regarding half thai children ( not needed to season for 2 months in bank ) & Need to be legal parent by " Family court.

In Birth certificate with parents name is not enough? Still need to legalise by family court? Thanks
Benjamin ******
@Boonie ******
IF you were *NOT* married, it needs to be legalise by family court. IF you *ARE* married, it gets legalized automatically (even retroactively).

@Benjamin *****
There is no seasoning for half Thai children, but you need to be the legal parent by family court...

Thank you
@Robert ******
for the clarification.
