you would apply for a tourist visa at the thai embassy in a border country that would give you 60 days, you could extend that in thailand by 30 days

visa will give you 60 days that you can extend in thailand for 30 days, border bounce will give you 30 days that you can extend by 30

Border bounce is where you exit a country & re-enter to get stamped in, visa run is where you go to another country & apply for a visa
