TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around personal experiences in obtaining a Digital Tourism Visa (DTV) for attending Softpower courses in Thailand. Users share varying feedback on the approval process with some having success using short courses or medical appointments. There's commentary on inconsistencies in how different Thai embassies approach DTV applications, highlighting the challenges in navigating Thai bureaucracies. Specific examples include successful applications via medical appointments documented with appointment slips and varied responses from embassies, with a clear mention of the logistical differences based on location.

did you get the approval by email or have to check with the embassy?

@Barry ******
If you apply in a country that uses eVisa it is by email otherwise it is a physical Visa page in your passport

Yes I was approved using Thai Soft power. I used a medical appointment. I made the appointment online and used the appointment slip as documentation. No problems. I applied in U.S. and used the e Visa through the Chicago office

What type of medical appointment if you dont mind me asking ? did you pay anything up front ?
Dru *******
@Rob ******
no payment upfront. It’s a consultation for possible treatment of a medical condition. I’ve used the Thai medical system before. Excellent facilities and treatment

Currently Thai consulates around the world handle this vastly differently. While some seem to issue a DTV based off of only a short cooking class appointment, others require at least a 1 or 3 months course. Typical Thai style. Even their own consulates aren’t properly informed. Good training for life in Thailand where people muddle their way through and shop for the most favorable conditions amongst offices of the very same organization - same happens with local immigration offices, departments of land transport, etc. TIT. Sorry for these honest words.

it starts to get though. It only is a matter of time when Thai embassies worldwide will end your dreams of achieving a 5-year visa with a two week cooking crash course. Or learning Muay Thai. Or attend a Thai school for weaving baskets underwater. Or bending yer back in an Asana Yoga seminar. . . . .. the Thai Embassy Canberra has already started the party 😄

I figured sooner or later they would start to crackdown.
