Part 3/3—

DTV Extension SUCCESS at Old Town Phuket for myself and my wife (Remote Worker / Digital Nomad)

First, a Note (for the 100th time)—— there's literally no need to tell me "it would've been easier if you would've just boarded an airplane." Busy family of 5 with three young kids— it would've been more expensive, more chaotic, and potentially more risky in our case. PLUS— I care about other people having access to this process. I'm happy to do it for science so people can have a little more clarity.

if you're somehow disgruntled about my doing this extension in this way, then why are you even in the group?

Timeline—

1st Day— Went to Immigration at Old Town Phuket. See previous posts about what I brought. Went through two or three rounds of varying degrees of checks. The Immigration officer was actually very kind, and let us know we needed: a *bank statement* for the *current* month. We also needed a *more recent* remote work authorization letter than the one I originally applied for the DTV with (Even though it's my own company— me authorizing myself).

2nd Day— Waited for my bank to auto-generate a bank statement for Feb-March (brought Jan-Feb, too). Wrote myself a new auth letter. Brought it all in. Waited my turn (very quick), the officer remembered us, quckly flipped through the documents and asked: "These are the new ones, right?" (he remembered us). Took our passports, docs, and money (1900THB each) gave us a little slip of paper telling us to pick up our passports on Friday (submitted on Monday).

3rd Day — Brough paper straight to Desk 5, they brought our passports out with a receipt and an extension stamp. Did our second 90-day check-in on the spot.

Tips / Takeaways :

- We were a primary holder + 1 follower. We have a shared bank account that has at 500,000 THB in it, but not much more than that. Our statements did not show that amount going below 500k at any point. There didn't seem to be concern about needing 500k per person.

- We kept all of our documents in order from the time we initially applied for the visa in Jakarta, Indonesia. This made it very easy to apply for an extension. All I had to change were the bank statements and authorization letter.

- Applying for an extension in Phuket took longer than applying for the visa in Jakarta. We submitted the application on Monday, picked up Friday (submitted on Monday, picked up Wednesday in Jakarta).

- The officers and staff, while they didn't talk much (likely because they're very busy), were very helpful and kind. Any anxiety and pressure I felt was put on myself, and never came from the staff or officers.

10/10 would do it again (but can't)

Hi. I’ve nearly been here 90’days on my DTV visa. I tried to register the 90 day report online. But the first time you need to go in person to your local immigration.

Could you tell me what I need to take with me. I’m in Phuket RAWAI also which part of the immigration do I attend. Any help would be great.

I have tennacy for 1 year

Thanks 🙏

I'll be applying for the DTV extension tomorrow at Phuket. We're a big family, so it's cheaper and more practical for us to do this instead of leaving the country.

Question— I read on the application (which seems to be just a generic tourist visa extension application TM.7) that:

"WHETHER PERMISSION IS GRANTED OR NOT, APPLICATION FEE IS NON REFUNDABLE UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES"

I've only ever applied for a visa exemption extension, which is relatively easy to get, so I've never been denied. Does anyone have experience getting denied the DTV extension and then LOSING their application fee?

If memory serves— the process is always info/document check desk to get a queue number, bring the application to the officer when number is called, pay at the end. I've been in Thailand since 2015, and I just can't see them saying "Sorry, denied. Now pay me" at the extension counter.

Asking for my Indian friend. They want to extend (here in Phuket currently on a 60day visa exempt entry).

Are they eligible for a 30 day extension or only 7 days?

Know it was 7 days before, not sure it was relaxed when India went to visa exempt entry.

Thanks in advance!

Just a quick FYI if using the appointment booking system at Phuket Immigration office.

I made an appointment a month ago to renew my annual retirement extension and received a reminder by email the day before. However, on arrival was told they don't use the appointment system anymore and take a number 🤣

The queue was not too bad as there seems to be more staff now.

Am I right that I can apply for my 30 day extention within 45 days of my 60 day visa expiring? If it makes any difference I'm planning on using phuket town immigration.

Many thanks

90 day report done online 14 days prior due-date in Phuket and accepted within 1 hour.

Since I arrived in Phuket nearly 2 years ago, never had to show-up life at immigration for report, despite several travels outside Thaïland. Always submitted 10-14 days prior due-date and TM30 always done at return.

This is my experience in Phuket.

Approved! So happy lol

- Bought *1 way* ticket to HCM and an onward ticket reservation in event airline asked - they didn’t.

- Cancelled ED visa 1 month early. Took ~20 mins at Phuket immigration. Flew the next day.

- Applied late 24th Dec (Muay Thai from a gym in Phuket)

- My Thai address is a bit complicated as it’s just a room owned by a restaurant owner. I copied the address from TM30/47 (although technically it is wrong)

- Put the flight back around 2-3 weeks later. Forgot exact.

- Used first PDF merger and compressed for documents.

- Took 1 photo that included the hotel receipt (Just realised the receipt was just 1 day as I wasn’t sure on the hotel. Probably risky but worked), my passport stamp and the flight booking. On this document I also included a photo of my literally standing next to the hotel lol.

- Receieved additional documents request on 2nd Dec asking for 6 months bank transactions. I used same merger tool and sent around 50-60 pages of 2 banks. One with 500k the whole time and another with 500k the week before.

- Approved today 6th Jan — 10-12 WD’s?

Thank you everyone for all your help. More than happy to answer any Q’s!
