ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS

90 day, single entry, Non-O visa (retirement/marriage)

For a good number of years we've been advising people to come here free stamp (visa exempt), open a bank account, transfer in the required funds and then apply for a 90 day Non-O visa in country at your immigration office.

Sadly, with the changes to the way banks allow accounts to be opened now, it is almost impossible to open a bank account on a free stamp (visa exempt) entry 😕

We are now going to suggest people who want to do year retirement or marriage extensions once they're here to get the initial 90 day Non-O visa in your country BEFORE you come here via the thai eVisa online web-portal

There are several advantages to this.

1 - you can show proof of funds in a bank in your country to get the initial visa issued from a thai consulate.

2 - it makes it WAY easier to open a bank account if you come in on a Non-O 90 day visa.

These are the requirements for the 90 day Non-O visa based on being over 50 (retirement) and the requirements for the 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai national

AND

These are the choices you would select on the eVisa online system

Non-O 90 day retirement

𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝟱𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 (𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟵𝟬 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀)

Non-O marriage to thai national

𝗧𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗶 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 (𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟲𝟬 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀)

If I arrive on Visa free entry and then change to non o retirement through an agent so I can stay 6 months will there be a problem upon entry initially with a return flight 6 months from entry? If so how can I do it?

Entered Thailand on 5th November with a UK passport. Left on 6th January and was fined for two days overstay. Unintentional just a minor administrative issue.

I plan to return on 1st April until 4th April for a tattoo and online work. I have onward travel booked. Likelihood of being granted entry?

I assume it will be no problem but just wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation with the current restrictions being tightened. TIA.

Have there been any issues with the 6 month multi entry tourist visa and reentering for another 60 days, after the first 60 days, etc? Leaving the country each time of course. TIA

Hello I’m Jean Michel from Switzerland

My daughter and familly come over Thailand for 3 months in December

The normal entrance visa at airport immigration is 2 months, we are scare to be refused to entry Thailand with our flight booking 3 months later

What should we do to be sure to get entry at the border airport

Of course they will demand a extension of 30 days more when then are in Thailand

Thanks for your return

Our recent experience of Nong Khai (land border) immigration

I thought it might be helpful to summarise our experience when we entered by land border at NK 2 days ago. Posting anonymous as this is a public group and friends don’t need to see this!

We are a couple from Europe (in our 40s) who are currently in month 4 of our travels around SE Asia backpacking. We visited Thailand twice previously in the last year, always exiting back to the UK.

I was really concerned about this border crossing given previous comments on this page and on Google reviews. So much so that we didn’t take the international bus from Laos in case we had any issues and it left us! Do we did it DIY style.

On our current travels we have previously spent:-

- 6 weeks in Thailand (exited by flight)

- one month in Cambodia

- one month in Laos

We entered Thailand again. At NK immigration both of us were given a new 60 day visa exempt stamp, no questions asked. Not one. We had no onward flight booked but met the other criteria, if it was asked. The (male) IO was so unbothered that both of us had to ask him if that was it and we could leave 🤣

My partner never had any concerns, just me. He believes we are not the demographic they are concerned about and we don’t stay near the 60 day limit, or extend.

We will be going to Vietnam next in a couple of weeks before coming back into Thailand by air sometime in the next couple of months. I’ll be worried again for that I’m sure!

Anyway, might be useful information for someone ☺️

Any Updates (reasons for rejections) or recently approved DTV experienced from Colombo? I’m going there in a few days (for different reasons) and just have to make the decision IF I try to apply (because I need the DTV soon) or save my money in case they’re just rejecting anyone atm. I‘ve spent 2 months in Thailand this year and 6 months at the beginning of last year. I have all the necessary documents for a workation DDTV. Thank you

Hello everyone, would need a word of advice here concerning a possible 30 days extension. Here are all my recent trips to Thailand:

- February 2024 to May 2024 = 60 days on arrival + 30 days extension without issues + 30 days thanks to visa run

- August 2025 to October 2025 = 60 days on arrival + 30 days extension without issues

- January 2026 to March 2025 = 60 days on arrival... hoping to get a 30 day extension

Do you think they could refuse the 30 days extension this time? Thanks

Re Extension of Visa due to Circumstances in the Gulf and the recent notice from Thai Immigration re overstays and extensions.

Does this apply to people on all Visas?

A friend is on a working visa that will shortly expire and won't be renewed. Presumably he cannot extend his working visa as he won't be continuing to work. Does he have any other options with regards to extending whilst these special circumstances are in place regarding the Gulf and travel?

It seems like we might be going into a situation similar to COVID. Note he is British and the British Embassy will not be issuing letters to support extensions. The British Embassy rarely does anything to help British citizens.... compared to other countries.

Adding... after reading a reply to make the post more specific. He hasn't had a flight cancelled and doesn't have one booked. His working visa expires on March 20th.

Thanks in advance.
