TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion primarily revolves around the costs associated with various Softpower courses in Thailand, highlighting specific experiences from expats. Prices mentioned include 0 baht for a dentist's letter, 15,000 baht for a Muay Thai course, and 60,000 baht for a friend's package including classes and visa processing. Other costs discussed include 40,600 baht for cooking classes and 10,000 baht for a nature course with seminars. There is also commentary about the perceived high costs of classes in relation to visa options.

my friend paid 60k for 5 years of classes and the visa processing was an additional 60k. He had to spend a month in Vietnam.

they hit him with the class fee AFTER he got home after a month in Vietnam, saying the original 60k didn't cover the classes and was for the paperwork. Was quite a baffling situation, but I guess 5 years of classes at that price is an ok deal if he attends them.

Average cost for doctor visit 30,000 baht every 8 weeks for me. So 195,000 a year. Hopefully insurance picks up most of it. 🤞

good to know. I have insurance through my former employer. Still they can suck sometimes. Last year in Thailand they have denied claims for medicine not being USFDA approved, or not getting pre-authorization for my medicine. Medicine is expensive so of course they originally found way to deny it. Or denying room charges because I got the “premier” room which they thought was a fancy room. They did pay after the hospital wrote them explaining the room premier is just a basic room. Hopefully this year will be easier dealing with them. 🤷‍♂️ cheers 🍻

Depends on the country. I read about someone who was denied in Singapore because the treatment 'was not for a long-term disease.' He tried with the same documents in Vietnam and succeeded. The treatment was Invisalign.

Another person—I don’t remember which country he applied in—tried with a letter for two dental appointments (a root canal or something similar) and succeeded as well. However, that was early on. I guess they could get stricter over time.

it’s 1500 per class. These schools are rolling in the money now. I wonder what it was before DTV.

I could see 300-400 but 1500 is expensive and not a drop in rate. People look at it as part of visa cost. The figure 18,000 + 10,000 for visa not bad. But you probably have to do visa runs not extensions. I think the annual cost with annual is expensive

The doctor or workcation is better deal. Especially if you really need doctor dm treatment away.

1500 a class is dogs balls expensive 🤣 Normal drop in price is 300-600 baht per class.
