TLDR : Answer Summary
The recent strengthening of the GBP against the THB can be attributed to several factors. A key reason is the comparatively successful rollout of the UK vaccination program, which boosted confidence in the UK economy's recovery. In contrast, the Thai economy is experiencing challenges due to the ongoing effects of COVID-19, leading to a depreciation of the baht against multiple currencies. Furthermore, shifts in political stability and market perceptions play significant roles in currency valuation. Several comments suggest that this trend may not last long if the baht regains strength as Thailand's economy stabilizes.

US Dollar is stronger to the baht as well. And the GBP is stronger compared to USD. USD improved because (I believe) we have less of dick in the white house. You guys have the same dick - so who knows.
😂😂 working out absolutely fantastic for those of us in Thailand and income from outside. The smart money came here. Happy to see the baht descent continue, making me money everyday. You?
import export values and political risk are the main drivers or currency values — the high baht has really damaged exports at a critical time for Thailand
it will continue to weaken against major currencies and they predict it dropping to 32 by June July. Yes obviously good if u have USD etc income and far better for tourism when it comes back and exports
likely so. Never been a better time to be here than now. Frankly the outside perspectives are of little or relevance, if the financial markets perceive risks, they take correlated action. The Thai economy, outside of the obvious tourism destruction, seems to be thriving. Adapting well. Several SE Asia nations will emerge stronger than ever. Others, like Myanmar, will not. There is always financial opportunity in unstable markets
it was 33+ — most ASEAN economies are very resilient despite the rhetoric from USA. Even MYanmar will rebound — as has Thailand after every Coup it has.
trust me, we are enjoying it VERY much, incredible time to be here

It is the relative success of the UK vaccination programme certainly compared to the EU. Vaccinations raises the hope of economic activity not being curtailed and getting back to pre Covid levels and the markets like that.
Successful in that more people vaccinated than the EU. What the government than chooses to do on the back of that is a diffe matter. Thailand has had more success than other countries but the obvious price is the tourism industry and areas have been devastated.
tourism is devastated in every nation. And yet, the vast majority of those nations have done poorly at effective Covid management.
Vaccine successes are great. But clearly in the ‘too little, too late’ category for several of the ‘leading’ nations.

It's because the pound has got stronger against a lot of major currencies, dollar and euro included.this is due to to the success of the vacinne rollout and the opening of the UK economy..pound will drop back as its now overvalued. Or Boris will say something to cock it up.
I not sure that’s correct Paul. The Baht seems fairly consistent against other currencies. For sure the GBP has strengthened considerably against other currencies. This has occurred only since the full enactment of Brexit. My conclusion therefore is that the weak position of GBP previously was due to the indecision and it has strengthened as a result of increased confidence now that the situation has become clearer. Of course I may be wrong but I suspect there to be some truth in this. Cheers
Ok. But the pound has strengthened against all currencies not just the Baht. It’s much stronger against the US dollar and the Euro. That’s what I am basing my assumptions on. For sure the Baht May have weakened a little but the Thai government are somewhat reknown for currency manipulation keeping it strong. Good night.
Not abrupt at all. Simply offering up a possibility as to the unusual gains. I am as surprised as anyone at the strengthening position of the GBP. For sure it’s outperforming other currencies against the baht. Perhaps you can offer a better reasoning? Cheers
Starting with "perhaps" & ending in "just a guess" "cheers" is rude. i have no problem with your suggestion, but i didn't like the sarcastic & rude way you delievered it
You are reading things that are not written. That is presumptuous and unfair. However just to make sure that you understand my feelings clearly on this matter, piss off you waste of space. You are denying other people valuable oxygen. Bollock to you. Goodbye

The pound is getting stronger against most currencies. Unsure why. Maybe because we are so far ahead with vaccinating everyone. Just a guess though
You arent ahead of people fully vaccinated, only half way done, and as the song goes living on a prayer, The UK is average in % comparison to other European countries off fuly vaccinated citizens,Just more bullshit from the media make most think that it is
what planet are you on. Germany is second to us with a total or around 10 million people vaccinated the U.K. is close to 27 million people. No other European country is close to the U.K.
I wish that was right:-( The graph you refer to (how many doses have been give per country) does not take the number of people living there into account. E.g., it does not sound much if a country got, say, 1 million doses. But if that country only has 1 million people living there, that means that 100 % got at least one jab or 50 % got both. Unfortunately, we only got dickheads ruling us in Germany who got nothing else on their minds than their own wallets... Second place in vaccinations in Europe is Serbia, which you'll see on the map (scroll down a bit) for which Shaun posted a link....
The UK has about 40% vaccination rate. Serbia, being second in that rating, is at about 29%. All other countries are further below, and most often MUCH further below that rate! But I'm sure you know better...
The vaccine is recomended to be done with a 3 week interval, which is not being done ;This has been a reckless drive to get as many vaccinated for PR by Piffel & Co,, Why did they not follow the guidelines to administer those jags
The recommendation is for the second jab to be after 3weeks (Pfizer), 4 weeks (Moderna) and 4-12 weeks (Astra-Zeneca), but no earlier. My understanding is that they are following this guidance, pushing the second as far towards 11-12 weeks to maximise the number of people getting protection from a first jab. Pfizer has said that the effectiveness may reduce until the second jab is taken if delayed to 12 weeks, but this is a trade-off the Uk government has decided to take. There is some evidence that the efficacy may improve by delaying the second jab.
Basically, there are trade-offs but it is not reckless to delay the second jab.
