TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a 60-day tourist visa to Thailand, applicants are generally required to provide flight details, including both entering and exiting flights. However, some may have success using a screenshot of a proposed itinerary or booking a 'dummy' onward ticket. It's also commonly mentioned that the exact return date is not strictly enforced by some embassies. Regarding extensions, it is possible to extend a 60-day visa without leaving the country, but the extension must be requested while still within the original visa validity period.

I applied on line for 60 day visa. My flight itinerary was for 5 months. They don't care about the return date, but you need to have a two way ticket. I spoke with the embassy and they confirmed they don't care about the return date. The lady said people can change flights at any time...

thanks for the reply, so on the online application did you tell them your exact departure date was in 5 months ?

yes I did, but the return date of my ticket didn't seem to be an issue. This was Vancouver, Canada and I can't speak for all other Embassies which processes visas.

Generally yes, and the exit needs to be within the 60 day even though you can get an extension. Some people have had luck just screenshotting an itinerary, like a proposed flight to and from Thailand and using that. Or you can try booking an "onward travel" ticket from an agency you find on google.

If they don't like what you send them, then they will e-mail you with what they are looking for so you can correct it.
