it seems that someone would want to "cancel" (more likely convert) an active DTV Visa to another Thai Visa: could be Non–B in order to work in Thailand (perhaps received a new job offer), Non–O after getting married to a Thai Spouse, or any other Thai Visa....

A Thai Embassy/Consulate usually does not cancel an active Thai Visa and any active Thai Visa cancelled by a Thai Embassy/Consulate would definitely need approval from the Ministry before being able to do so. Now, with all Thai Visa's nowadays from Thai Embassies/Consulates being Thai E–Visa, it is very difficult to do, as those who have genuine errors made by the Thai Embassy/Consulate, the Thai Embassy/Consulate cannot edit in the Thai E–Visa System and re-print, but only by printing out a Thai E–Visa and manually changing their error by hand/ink and making a notation is usually the current practice for Thai E–Visa errors made by a Thai Embassy/Consulate

Now, in the regulations, a DTV Visa can be converted in-country to another Thai Visa, but so far, there have been no field reports thus far of someone successfully converting their DTV to another Thai Visa

But, if you want to cancel an active DTV Visa, then contact the Thai Embassy/Consulate that issued the DTV Visa and see what they say. There is no point in contacting your local Thai Immigration Office about cancelling an active DTV Visa issued by a Thai Embassy/Consulate.

1.) For any DTV E–Visa or any Thai E–Visa Application can only be Submitted OUTSIDE Thailand, the immediate question is:

Where is this Syria Passport holder located now?

2.) So, not knowing where they are at now, before thinking about applying for a DTV E–Visa or where to apply for a DTV E–Visa, permit me to speak about applying for a LAO Visa for Syria Passport holders (and I would imagine would be very similar for Vietnam and Cambodia):

in that, Syria Passport holders CANNOT get a Lao Visa on Arrival (Lao VoA) nor a Lao eVisa and must get a Lao Visa at a Lao Embassy/Consulate beforehand in order to make entry into Laos.

This would almost always entail getting a Lao Visa Agent to facilitate obtaining mandatory Pre-Approval from the Lao Consular Department in order to apply for a Lao Visa at a Lao Embassy/Consulate (of which there not that many Lao Embassies/Consulates around the world)

in summary:

best NOT to apply for any Thai E–Visa in Laos

3.) One will find that nearly all Thai Embassies/Consulates will have additional processing time and possibly other additional requirements for Syria Passport holders as they must send the Thai E–Visa Application to Thailand MFA (Thailand Ministry of Foreign Affairs) for Approval before they start processing and issuing any potential Thai E–Visa for Syria Passport holders

4.) One advantage of the Thai E–Visa system nowadays is that the Syria Passport holder might just be better off to stay where they are Now (OUTSIDE Thailand) and submit their Thai E–Visa Application to the Thai Embassy/Consulate that has jurisdiction over where they are located now and hopefully that particular Thai Embassy/Consulate accepts only Payment via the Thai eVisa Website, so as there would be no need to go in-person to make a Thai E–Visa Fee Payment

5.) Again, it would really be helpful to know where they are now, because the usual method of being able to "shop around" and research going to any particular Thai Embassy/Consulate nearby Thailand in order to apply for a DTV E–Visa is truly curtailed and limited for Syria Passport holders

6.) I would 1st research where a Syria Passport holder can easily go nowadays around the world, then respond back with such a list of countries so as to find out about Thai Embassies/Consulates located in or having jurisdiction over those countries that Syria Passport holders can go to, then a more informed response as to what tips for submitting a DTV E–Visa application at those particular Thai Embassies/Consulates....

As Hoi An UNESCO World Heritage Town is located in Quảng Nam Province and under the jurisdiction of the Thai Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), then you can definitely apply for a DTV E–Visa in Hoi An and submit your DTV E–Visa application to the Thai Consulate in HCMC via the Thai eVisa website

If you search just within this Facebook Group, then you can research and will find many successful applications and DTV's issued by the Thai Consulate in HCMC

Why have you and your child not yet applied for a DTV E–Visa at any Thai Embassy/Consulate under the DTV Dependents Category (since your husband already has a DTV Visa)??

Yes, local Thai Immigration Offices have granted an Extension of Stay to passports with less than 6 months validy (expires in less than 6 months)

However, any Extension of Stay granted will NOT be longer than the Expiration Date of the Passport, that is, if an Extension is for longer than the Passport's Expiration, then the Extension will only be granted for up to the Expiration Date of the Passport

The same concept of a Passport Expiring "soon" applies to a Thai Immigration Officer granting Entry into Thailand, but individual airlines may have a different policy and may or may not allow boarding on their individual flight to Thailand, so there are fewer cases for Thai Immigration Officers at Arrival and Entry into Thailand than those already in Thailand requesting an Extension of Stay, because of various individual circumstances and situations have a passport that is about to expire and have not yet renewed their passport before requesting an Extension of Stay at the local Thai Immigration Office....

This is an excerpt from 1 of 2 Thai Immigration "Field Manuals" publicly available for download.

This specific Thai Immigration "Field Manual" is สตม108 / imm108

Note that the legal basis for such a policy is rooted in the Thai Immigration Act 2522 (1979) itself

1.) You wife with a Philippines Passport or any passport, such as Australia Passport, have had incorrect DTV Entry Stamps given by Thai Immigration Arrival Officers before, so this instance is not first time and will not be the last time

2.) Your wife has subsequently been given the Correct DTV Entry Stamp by the Thai Immigration Officer on Arrival at Phuket Airport

3.) Nothing to be worried about and any errors have already been corrected

4.) No need to follow up on this DTV Entry Stamp Error as it has already been corrected

5.) a very good Reminder to all to Always Double-Check your Entry Stamps by any immigration officer Anywhere in the world immediately upon arrival, so as to catch any potential errors as quickly as possible!

This Facebook Group is a great and informative FB Group, but, specifically for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), i would recommend to get more information at another FB Group centered around the DTV, and, you will find many Members and Moderators here also over there
