ORIGINAL POSTERHas anyone observed any changes at the Payment section of the Thai E-Visa website that would accommodate a different form of payment (i.e. cash as per the Notices from Laos) besides using a credit card/debit card only? Or, would the system just skip the Payment section entirely if submitting an E-Visa application to Laos?

well, would have to wait until the new year to see what exactly will show for Laos, as like the other countries before, and such as Indonesia right now (23 November 2024), even the option to select Indonesia on the Thai E-Visa website will not be available until 26 November 2024....Paul *******

I assume how it will work is, first you make payment, get a receipt and then you upload that or provide the receipt number, then it will let you proceed with the application (or the other way around; you upload everything, then evidence of payment in cash, at the embassy in Vientiane or consulate-general in Savannakhet).Reply to

I’m wondering how this will work out for teachers who will have to make a Non B visa in Vientiane or Savanaket and waiting there 2-3 weeks to get their visa processed and in many cases schools made mistakes with the documents provided,resulting in another 2-3 week trip to Laos.

The convert in-country would be the easiest way and although on immigration web sites this is mentioned the school say it’s a no no when they ask immigration about this option.Paul *******

I wonder why that is? A strange and useless rule. Besides, once the Lao consulates move to the e-visa, they'll have to rethink this whole thing, regarding conversions.Having said that, in other jurisdictions using the e-visa system, it can be quite fast. Vietnam and Cambodia (especially Ho Chi Minh) can issue e-visas in as little as 48 hours (though they state the processing time is now 5 business days).

the Vietnam option if it’s 48 hours might doing it but if it works out 5 working day to process you might have to pick up the passport after the weekend when you started on a Monday .The financial burden will be huge for most of them and the schools haven’t got a clue until now about these new visa processing requirements.Paul *******

That's something they'll have to deal with unfortunately and while I think some consulates are speeding up processing times, Laos will likely become one of the slowest in the region and thus avoided by most applicants come January.Reply to

Savannakhet will be on eVisa as well, same schedule, same conditions as Vientiane.

Interesting to note that you apply online thru the eVisa system in Vientiane then you GO there in person to pay the visa fee in CASH <- you don't pay online like the rest of the countries that use the eVisa system
AND
look at the processing time too 10-15 WORKING DAYS, that's up to THREE WEEKS you're going to be in Lao waiting on that visa to be approved
