TLDR : Answer Summary
Starting October 8, 2024, Thailand will initiate the E-Visa process in both Cambodia and Malaysia, as per announcements from their respective embassies. It is aimed at foreign nationals located in these countries wishing to obtain a Thai visa before traveling. However, there are updates regarding other regions, such as Jakarta, which has postponed its E-Visa rollout. Additionally, users have discussed details about entry for foreign nationals, with clarifications that visa exemption for entry remains unaffected by these new E-Visa rules.

To be clear, these are for ANY foreign nationals in Cambodia wishing to enter Thailand, or for Cambodian nationals only?

As a US passport holder going from Siem Reap by air to Bangkok, will I still be able to get the visa exempt on arrival, or will I need to apply in advance for the eVisa? This is getting sort of complicated. THANK YOU from a first-timer!!!

dear sir, the moment you apply for visa you must already be outside from country, you can not apply in advance. have in your mind that evisa usually needs from 4-10 working days (2 weeks max.)

this is for foreigners IN those countries or that countries citizens who wants to BUY a visa from the thai consulate there before they come here.

Entering visa exempt isn't anything to do with this thread, sorry to have got you mixed up

You get 60 days when you show up here free stamp (visa exempt entry) without any visa

Jakarta announced they will not roll out eVisa as planned (no new update for when) so I'd say ANYONE in thailand whose thinking to get a DTV, get your act together, and get over to Jakarta to apply (they are NOT a hard core consulate)

Are you thinking it will be harder to get the DTV online than in person, so you said to get it done? My visa doesnโ€™t expire until Feb, I planned to apply for DTV then.

I think the processing time (time you spend IN another country) will go way up with the eVisa system. You'll find out how it works when you go for your visa in Feb, that's a LONG way off right now

Can a DTV be issued instead of a none o based on marriage to a Thai national?

Thank you for confirming.

I did read the conditions and thought this was not applicable, was not 100% sure though.

, there is no DTV based on just being spouse to a Thai national. You need to meet the requirements for any reason for DTV.

couldn't even begin to answer that question, got no idea where you're applying and got no idea what the requirements are for that consulate sorry, all you can do is go to the consulate and see what it says or do a search of people who used that consulate and got DTV's

RTC in Saigon (HCMC) will likely switch to e-visa in October as well. There are no appointment bookings available for October now.
