TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thai E-Visa will be launched in both Cambodia and Malaysia starting from October 8, 2024. This development has been shared by the Thai embassies in Phnom Penh and Kuala Lumpur. There is also a discussion about the status of eVisas in other regions such as Jakarta, Laos, and Vietnam, with some users noting positive experiences with eVisas in Canada.
DTV VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES

all embassies and consulates are going to E-Visa only, it is a far better system for everyone, I got my electronic DTV Visa from the consulate in Vancouver Canada in 2 days, very simple straight forward process, saves everyone a lot of time and effort
Bob *******
Are there any indications, Thai embassies in Laos or Indonesia might also change to e-visa in the foreseeable future?
Tod *********
@Bob ******
Jakarta said they would put off rolling out eVisa for the time being and there have been no updates from either consulate in Lao

@Tod ********
For the time being, but they might still be required to switch eventually. I wouldn't hold it off too long if wanting to apply there. Anytime in October seems safe but who knows, they might switch over in November or December?
Tod *********
@Paul ******
I would suggest ANYONE wanting to get a DTV to get their act together and get to Jakarta or Taipei and apply (those seem to be the most "user friendly" consulates around
Tod *********
@Bob ******
the bali thai consulate closed before covid and never re-opened

In Indonesia you apply in person at the Jakarta Thai Consulate

Someone knows about Vietnam?
Paul *******
@Daniel *********
October 8 for HCMC. Hanoi might be a little later.
Sarah *******
@Daniel *********
hcmc is switching to evisa from October. I think Hanoi also (but not 100% sure on that one)
Tod *********
Jakarta announced they will not roll out eVisa as planned (no new update for when) so I'd say ANYONE in thailand whose thinking to get a DTV, get your act together, and get over to Jakarta to apply (they are NOT a hard core consulate)

I just downloaded my balance letter from my bank. It shows average 6 month balance and today's current balance all in a clear and concise PDF. This is what my home bank always suggests using as documentation. Are they needing all my personal monthly transactions for the checking account as well or are they pretty relaxed?

Jakarta or Taipei? You previously mentioned that the evisa system for Jakarta has been delayed. For Taipei, they told me when I enquired that applying in October is fine as they're not moving over yet but they probably will eventually.
Andi ***********
@Paul ******
Jakarta is delayed.

@Tod ********
I thought Jakarta will roll out the evisa but not yet?
Andi ***********
@Paul ******
They emailed me to say it's delayed due to technical issues.
Sara ******
@Tod ********
how long does it take for the Embassy in Jakarta to process the visa? Thank you!
Tod *********
@Sara *****
use the search function at the top of the group <- the magnifying glass and type DTV Jakarta.. Read the posts. OR go to the website of the consulate and see what they post for processing time
Willy ******
@Tod ********
will it be harder to get the DTV through E-visa process?
Tod *********
@Willy *****
You go to the country you're going to apply in, you upload your documents, your proof you're IN that country (visa/entry stamp, hotel booking) you apply online you PAY for the visa and then you sit until they approve or deny it 😮 AND

if they deny it you're out the application fee

Some consulates are already stating they will have processing time between 2 and 4 WEEKS once they switch over

it appears like right now you're gonna be camping out in another country thru the whole process
Fabian **********
@Tod ********
Camping out in the country where you apply from? Well I would say you can fly back to Thailand after you applied using visa on arrival and as soon as your DTV got approved, you could do another run to activate the DTV. I don't really see a problem here.
Kami ******
@Fabian *********
I wonder if that will work.. Has anyone tried this? Applying then coming back and then bounce the border to active it?
Tod *********
@Fabian *********
and how many eVisas have you applied for in nearby countries 😉 we really don't know what the requirements are yet 😛
Fabian **********
Zero times, so I have no experience. Just my guess that you could do it that way.
Tod *********
@Fabian *********
and maybe you are correct 🙂 we just don't know
Andi ***********
@Tod ********
Have you heard if Taipei is moving to Evisa?
Paul *******
@Andi **********
They told me "not yet" but it's implied that they will move eventually. I think all consulates will, including Laos, just that some will move later.
Tod *********
@Andi **********
I have not hears about taipei (that's another soft touch consulate)
@Ellie ******
of the Thai Visa Advice group said there was no announcement from Laos, Singapore, Myanmar, or Philippine so far 😕
Paul *******
@Tod ********
Yangon has made an informal announcement of their intention to move to the evisa platform. No date given but an announcement was made back in July.
Andi ***********
@Tod ********
Is the Phillipines open to non residents? not heard much on that embassy.
Tod *********
@Andi **********
yep I read reports from foreigners who applied there but don't live there and got them
Willy ******
@Tod ********
ok better get the skates on to Jakarta ASAP!
