@Peter ********
They might need an agent to help open a bank account, but that's all.

@Michael *******
no idea why, but presumably they are processed by the office that holds your records and their rules apply maybe🤔

that explains it. The visa part at the immigration office is the easy part. Everything for registering the marriage involves a couple of visits to the different places, chugging around Bkk and appointments to be made, often weeks in advance. I must admit if I did it again (I won't) I would pay an agent to do more of the legwork, but you navigated it perfectly đź‘Ź

@Dave *******
this is a great explanation of the process and your experience. You make it seem very simple, but I think you did really well to cram all that into the 60 days. I presume you and your wife were based in Bangkok for the 60 days.

@Michael *******
yes I have 1 year visa. It seems to vary from office to office, some only allow online between 14 and 7 days before the due date.

@Michael *******
when the window for online reporting closes.

@Brandon ***********
to be expected I guess. I will stick to my method of applying online about 8 days before the due date, as it seems to work (so far).

I am sure you are correct, being so knowledgeable Brandon, but I read somewhere that online reporting was 14 to 7 days before the due date. Is that incorrect or like many things, does it vary?

If you are over 50 it might be easier to get the non o based on retirement. You can change it to marriage extension the year after if you want to.

Using an agent is unnecessary and ties you into using them every subsequent year.
