You can only work at a few occupations in Thailand, like teaching.

If you are wanting to work as a DJ here, I do not think this is possible.

Retirement visa and DTV are probably your best visa options without work.

Why don't you get a non O retirement visa before you fly and then you don't need an onward flight?

It also makes it easier for you to open your bank account in Thailand.

oh wow yes then that seems a great choice, I didn't realise they could still get the affidavit.

Yes you will need a re-entry permit from immigration before you leave Thailand or your visa will expire.

Have you considered the non O visa instead?

It does not have the same insurance requirement (you can still get your own insurance).

The non O can be extended annually in Thailand, but you would need to deposit 800,000 baht in a Thai account.

yes, anecdotally I think that is true, although I did my first report online (but that was over 2 years ago). I would still try it as there's nothing to lose if you do it online 14 days before the due date. If it gets rejected there is plenty of time to go in person.

excellent. If you have friends there, just ask them to help you, you then don't need an agent. If you have a visa opening a bank account is simple and then 2 months layer extending your stay for 12 months is also simple. You can ask here for more advice nearer the time. Good luck.
