also you can't get another METV from.a neighbouring country, you have to return to your own country to get a subsequent METV. However you can get a SETV from Thai embassies or consulates in neighbouring countries. However the days of living on back to back tourist visas ended around 2017

They expect you to ask family friends, start a gofundme to raise the money for your flight home,))0 if you don't have the money. Your bill for your stay in the detention centre is added daily to the costs of your flight

Usually the staff in the detention centre book the most expensive, full cost airline ticket for the detainee. Lots of stories of staff deliberately preventing a detainee from catching a cheap flight that the detainee had already booked. But like you I would be interested to know the details in this instance

Thailand has lots to reccommend it, but it is far from heaven, lots of domestic violence, lots of sexual assaults that are either unreported or go nowhere when victims come forward, sexual abuse of girls by male teachers and police occurs far too often. Just months ago a male teacher was filmed kicking a young student repeatedly using full force muay thai style kicks that knocked the child flying each time, the child was aged about 9 years. Parents expressed concern and there was momentary outrage, but the school protected the teacher. There is a lot of grisly and violent crime here, usually as a result of jealousy or greed. There is terrible air quality in different regions of Thailand at different times of the year, resulting in many hospital admissions and premature deaths from lung cancer. Most of the fresh fruit and vegetables are laden with pesticides in levels beyond what is considered safe. Even rice is grown using chemicals tbat are banned in Western countries. There is little land that has not been contaminated by these pesticides. The roads across the country are very unsafe with 75 people dying every day in motor vehicle accidents, lots of animal cruelty and neglect, and whilst there are some truly lovely, genuine Thai people, there are a lot of false smiles and scams

fresh fruit and vegetables can't be brought in without a permit, big signs up at the airport advising of this and fines of 20,000 baht (from memory). Also meat is phohibited and honey to potect Thailand's agricultural industries. But in reality I have never seen anyones luggage searched
