For those of you in Thailand on a DTV visa — is Rawai a good place to base yourself as this is where I’ve seen a decent Muay Thai gym under the soft power visa, or would you recommend another area of Phuket?

While I’m out there, I’d love to connect with others into fitness/gym life and digital nomads. Would you recommend renting a motorbike or a car, and what are the typical costs? I know motorbikes are easy to rent, but I only have an international driving license (not a motorbike one), so I’m not sure how that works.

Same with accommodation — did you sort it once you arrived or book in advance? Roughly what are the monthly costs for a decent place in Phuket?

Also, how did you go about meeting like-minded people? I’d like to avoid feeling isolated, as I’m moving from the UK and hoping to meet people into fitness, good vibes, and community.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated as I’m getting flights to Phuket booked and sorting putting things into storage back home in the UK currently preparing to move. Thanks in advance!

Hello!

I'm trying to narrow my move between thailand and ecuador. Any suggestions why I should pick one over the other?

For a long time it was ecuador. Just recently I've been considering Thailand.

For Americans living in Thailand…how does $3000 USD/month equate in Thailand? Not conversion to bahts but $3k in America is like living on how much USD in Thailand? That make sense? Does it feel like I have $5-6k in Thailand? 🤷

I need help with my Budget...am I over budgeting?

*Monthly**

1. Rent $700 (all in for utilities, water, electric

2. Transportation $400 ($100 weekly)

3. Food $900 ($10 3x a day = $30)

4. Phone & WiFi $100

That's $2100 mandatory bills....

I still haven't

1. Clubbed/Partied

2. Tourist/Travel/Island Hop/Elephants

3. Shopped for new cloths for climate etc

4. Girlfriend Experience

What else am I forgetting????

My plan was to take 20k for a 6 month vacation 25k total with 5k for flight and and visa fees & insurance;

Pay bills in America for 6 months = $6000

14k ÷ 6 months = 2333 remaining Budget

70k savings getting 4% in high intrest saving account pays me an additional $258 monthly bringing my total BUDGET to $2591 ($2600) monthly.

With $2100 in MANDATORY bills that leaves me $500 a month to party/massages/island hop/ elephants and if push comes to shove "girlfriend experience".

Am I OVER or UNDER BUDGETING....AND WILL $500 a month be enough after MANDATORY BILLS are paid to have the kind of adventure that most are looking for?

P.S. I'm 44 so even tho I look foward to some night life nights....I see myself being more of a "visit the islands" lay up and get massages 6x a week and eat good food and visit cool locations over the club scene. But I do party....
