What are the visa exemption requirements for crossing from Laos to Thailand via the Friendship Bridge?
Border crossing; Friendship Bridge near Vientiane to Nong Khai
My son crossed over yesterday afternoon and received 45 days visa exempt. He had the three proofs of 20,000 cash, accommodation in Thailand and onward travel out of Thailand.
He was only asked to show proof of booked accommodation
He has no Covid stamps or back to back visas
He said it was slow getting through Thai immigration, about 100 people crossing around 4.45pm

Answer summary
A user shared a recent experience of crossing the Friendship Bridge from Laos to Thailand, where their son successfully received a 45-day visa exemption. He provided proof of accommodation and carried 20,000 THB in cash but was asked to show accommodation only. The process was slow due to a large number of people at the immigration checkpoint.

Thank you for that update Especially thanx for the details about your son's stay history, what was asked of him and how it went.

it was weird that they asked him to show accommodation in a week's time in Bangkok and not the immediate accommodation he had booked in Nong Khai. Fortunately he was preparedTod *********

that is strange indeed, but also not insurmountable if you have to make a booking on agoda while you're standing there. Good to know they're not asking for onward travel or proof of funds at that border. (They didn't do it before covid either)
