BazaarAsia57 Go for an extension. With the current situation and showing proof of canceled flight, you might get another 30 days.

Mark Goodall I have family that lives there and costs have gotten completely out of control the since covid. Cost of living and especially housing costs are ridiculous compared to most of the US.

I applied to DC Embassy on Jan 5th. It took 9 calendar days. Only issue you may have is your financial documents - every post re: US applicants states that the equivalent of 800k baht bank balance is the only acceptable option for initial Non-O since US Embassies won't provide the letter needed for monthly income.

Tom Whyte With Non-O, it's been stated - no need to prove it was a foreign transfer, only need proof (letter from bank, updated passbook, statement proving 60 days) that it has been on deposit for at least 60 days.

Michael WinterI was hoping this was an option but online info says the following..

TM30 Reporting: The license often contains the necessary information for hotels to fulfill the legal requirement of reporting your stay to immigration.

Paul Gunn "Talk to an IO agent" - that'd be taking a big risk since you'll be admitting to using an agent rather than following the legal method. They'll have your name and passport info. Not wise to put a spotlight on yourself with immigration.

Info repeated here to transition from agent to legal is that you must apply fresh and do the 800k deposit for the 1st year. 65k monthly (after showing 12mos? of 65k deposits) is a 2nd year option.

It's not a requirement (did the Non-O w/ the DC Embassy on Jan 9th - no flight out needed) so this is just more proof that LA is fkd. Refundable tickets are expensive but that's one option, *make sure it's refundable. Airmiles tickets are refundable with most airmiles plans. Last option is a cheap throwaway ticket to a border country. Vietnam one way flights can be as cheap as $35-$50USD.

Search on Ytube "LetsLiveinThailand Thai Retirement Visa in Minutes". It's a 19min video that walks you thru the Non-O.

I followed it on Jan 5th and rec'd approved Non-O visa 9 days later.
