If I open an account at a Kasikorn Bank branch, am I bound to it somehow? can I use any other branch later on? Are there any restrictions in this regard?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When opening an account at Kasikorn Bank, you are not strictly bound to the original branch. Customers can generally use any Kasikorn branch in Thailand for most banking services. However, there are some restrictions: for specific transactions like closing an account, re-verifying identity, or resolving issues, you may need to return to the branch where you initially opened the account. Additionally, while using ATMs outside of your home province may incur fees, using cardless ATM features typically allows for fee-free access at any KBank ATM.
I just went to the Kasikorn bank in yasothon and they said that I can get my statements and bank letter through then even though my account is elsewhere
You have to go to the branch where you opened your account in cases of -re-verifying your identity,
- any problems with your account
- closing your account
- getting letter from bank to visit the branch
- Blockade/ freezing of your account
Last year I had to spend 1 full day to travel to the city where I had opened my account just because the bank wanted to see my passport for verification.
Deniz Saritel Not totally correct. I did my ID verification in Sattahip but my account is Bang Kapi Bangkok. Might have something to do with the fact that I've been a customer for 36 years.
Then my statement was and is absolutely correct. Last year tens of thousands of accounts got frozen and everyone had to go to their branch without any mercy where they opened the accounts.
I witnessed it in three branches where I first tried to get things done without going to my old city. Nothing helped I and many others had to go. Only one case I know that the bank in Bangkok accepted to care for his case because he was badly ill.
Kasikorn bank and Bangkok Bank are the only two banks that will let you open up an account right away if you want to open up the account at any other bank you have to be here for over a year that's my understanding
I open my account at Bangkok Bank walking street but I use the one in Jomtien. If I need any special paperwork I have to go back to the one on walking street. Same bank but not same bank
Ba Ma probable BKK but what is special? I opened a second account linked to my first account so for that BKK as it makes it easier. We have family there so we go when required.
Any amount of money in or out up to 4mn per transaction is normal so in real terms if you can get to your branch when required then leave it where it is.
I will move mine to Hua Hin after I get my yellow book and can prove residency
I opened a KBANK account in 1990 when I first came to Thailand and still have it. I use the Sattahip branch for updates, ATM card and guarantee letter for visa extension, so the answer is yes, you can use any branch. However the ATM card must be used at a KBANK machine. Out of province use of the card will entail a fee..... 15-20 Baht I think.
Larry Ryan plus you are allowed 6 non KBank ATM withdrawals per month WITHIN PROVINCE. Think it’s 10 baht charge - All the banks will be the same. Therefore it’s best to use your own banks ATM within the province you opened the bank account.
Larry Ryan correct me if I’m wrong but I find this is the case with my bank. If I have any issues with my account whatsoever, they will only address those issues at the branch where I opened my account
Larry Ryan I you use cardless and scan the qr code on the atm there isn't a charge as long as its a Kbank ATM,if its any other atm you will get charged 10 bht by using cardless withdraw
Jesper Ngiam I have used cardless all over Thailand ,I only get charged if the atm isn't k bank ,if its kbank no charge ,just used scb on koh chang, again no charge
Yes. You are a bit. I have one in the regional town i live in. If i transfer large amounts over 50k over the counter to a bangkok account then i have to pay a small fee. Not sure if there are any other disadvantages yet.
